    Description

Each Blueair Pro Air Purifier is Energy Star Rated! One thing Blueair has lacked since its inception is a truly commercial air purifier. While some of the Classic air purifiers have impressive coverage areas, only the largest of these models falls into this category. Blueair is now addressing this with the all new Blueair Pro HEPA air purifiers.

The new Pro series of air purifiers has three sizes, Medium, Large and Extra Large, but each operates even quieter than previous models. While Blueair stands above the rest for quiet operation, the Pro line has actually managed to top that. In addition to this, the Blueair Pro air purifiers offer wider coverage, ideal for office and school environments. While the patented HEPASilent filters (which target pollen, mold spores, dander, dust, and other particle allergens) are standard, each of these models can be equipped with SmokeStop filters for filtration of chemical vapors, smoke, and odors, in addition to particle filtration. As some of the easiest to operate and maintain, the Blueair Pro air purifiers require almost no maintenance. So when you need an air purifier to clean large spaces in your office or home but to do so quietly with little supervision, one of the Blueair Pro air purifiers is going to be the solution you're looking for. Buy the Blueair Pro L, M, or XL here today!

    Blueair Pro Air Purifier Review

    Blueair Pro HEPA Air Purifier

Blueair air purifiers have become some of the most popular in homes across the world for a few good reason. They help reduce visible dust in homes while filtering allergens like pollen, dander, and dust mites that can trigger allergies, asthma, or COPD. Among all the major brands, Blueair has a tradition of using less power than comparable models while simultaneously covering larger areas and doing so while making less noise than just about any other models available today. It has been several years since Blueair made any changes to this formula. That is, until now. Not only did they introduce the Sense+ air purifier, but now there is a line of commercial air purifiers available. The Blueair Pro air purifiers take the features that have made Blueair popular and have amped them up. With each of the three new Pro models on hand, we've spent weeks operating, testing, and comparing them, and this is what we've found.

What I like about the Blueair Pro Air Purifier

First, there are three sizes to choose from. Between the three, there are only a few things separating them, namely size, coverage area, and how many filters each holds. For exceptionally large open office spaces or open floor plans, the Blueair Pro XL uses three sets of filters and can move 990 cubic feet of air per minute. That some serious cleaning power! The Pro L and Pro M step down from there with a top end CFM of 660 and 330, respectively. These two models also use fewer filters and are shorter, with the Pro L using two sets of filters and the Pro M, one. This choice of size allows you to customize your selection to the size of the space you're trying to clean. It also gives you some flexibility in terms of cost.

With the ability to move more air comes the ability to clean larger spaces. In most cases, if you were wanting to use a Pro model in your bedroom, the Pro M should suffice. For the Blueair Pro L, it's going to work well in a small to medium size office, or in a space with an open floor plan, like a loft style apartment. The Pro XL is left for large to medium size offices or floor plans where the kitchen, dining room, and living room are all open and connected. With options and larger coverage areas, the Pro line offers greater flexibility and larger coverage, so unlike other brands, one Pro is likely all you'll need.

The standard filtration of the Blueair Pro air purifiers is their patented HEPASilent filter media, and when the Pro combines electrostatic and mechanical filtration what you get is the removal of 99.97% of all particles as small as 0.1 microns. This means removing dust, pollen, mold spore, pet dander, and other harmful particles from your indoor air. There is a thin layer of activated carbon for nuisance level odors, but if you need the removal of smoke, fragrances, odors, and chemical vapors, you can upgrade to the SmokeStop filters at any time. Honestly, because of the modular design, you could actually use a combination of SmokeStop and HEPASilent filters with the Pro L and Pro XL models.

Unique to this series of air purifiers is the Pro Carbon+ Filter add on. Thinner than the regular Pro filter, the Pro Carbon+ works with your existing Pro HEPASilent or SmokeStop filters. Think of it as another layer of filtration. It fits over the existing filter and offers another layer of the SmokeStop filter media. If you have SmokeStop filters and find the filtration isn't robust enough, try the Carbon+ add on for even more carbon. If you have a new HEPASilent filter but now need odor filtration, simply add the Carbon+. There are a variety of instances and configurations where this can be helpful, but overall, it adds more flexibility and optional filtration for your Blueair Pro air purifier.

The control panel of each model is the same. On the very top is a soft-touch control pad that allows you to adjust the fan speed and power the unit off/on. The Pro L and Pro M models have the port for the Air Intelligence Module, but with the Pro XL air purifier, this module is already included. This mod plugs into the unit via a USB port and contains an air quality sensor, giving you the ability to not only monitor air quality in the space but to also set the unit to run in an automatic mode. This means the Pro will adjust the fan speed according to how clean or dirty the air is. This effectively takes any and all guess work out of the Pro. Plug it in, set it to automatic and there's almost nothing more to do for six full months. In addition to the LCD display is a filter change indicator, but other than this, the overall design is simplistic and efficient.

While we took the Pro L and Pro M air purifiers home, the Blueair Pro XL stayed at the office and has been running nearly non-stop on low and medium. With an office that is roughly 1300 sq. ft. the Pro XL is powerful enough to clean the entire space but quiet enough not to disturb anyone as they work. The noise, or lack thereof, produced by the Pro series is ideal for offices or even your bedroom. On the lowest setting it is literally whisper quiet.

Like other Blueair air purifiers, the Pro models are exceptionally easy to use and maintain. Filter changes occur every six month, and the filters that fit in the Blueair Pro M also fit the Pro L and Pro XL. The only difference is the quantity of filters used (1, 2, 3). Changing them is easy and requires no tools. You simply pull open the black cover (magnetic) and the V-shaped filter collapses inward for easy removal. Insert the new one, then spread it until it snaps into place, replace the cover, and you're all set. In all, I rate the Blueair as likely one of the absolute easiest to change. Aside from this, you can occasionally vacuum off the black metal grates over where air flows in and out, but beyond this, there is nothing required to keep the Pro operating at its best.

Overall, the new Blueair Pro air purifiers are versatile, extremely quiet, energy efficient, and most importantly, great at cleaning up your indoor air, leaving your home or office smelling better and you breathing better. The design is modern, stylish and unobtrusive, and there likely isn't a model that is as easy to maintain or use. The noise level is truly noteworthy considering how much air these machines can actually filter. Three sizes provides flexibility, and the interchangeability of the filters provides additional options in terms of balancing particle vs smoke/odor filtration. There is no getting around the price of these air purifiers, but Blueair's hope is that the positives of a quiet, effective, efficient, and durable air purifier outweigh the cost. For offices or larger open spaces where air quality is a concern, I'd have to agree.
