Alen has a simple and portable solution to this problem with the C425 portable air conditioner. Acting as a fan, dehumidifier or portable air conditioner, the Alen C425 is an easy to use and install unit that can provide immediate relief to a hot or humid home. Best used to "spot cool", this portable air conditioner can be permanently installed or moved throughout the home to provide cooling relief where ever it may be needed.

What I liked about the Alen C425 Portable Air Conditioner

With three modes, the Alen portable air conditioner can be set for use in almost any condition. During the cooler parts of the day in the mornings or evenings you can set the Alen C425 to act just as a fan. When the inside of your home feels muggy and humid you can the Dry function to turn this model into a more traditional dehumidifier, and in its primary Cooling mode the Alen will not only help keep the temperature down but also remove some of the excess moisture that traps heat and makes the inside of your home feel warmer.

The timer function of the Alen allows you to set this air conditioner to run from 1 to 24 hours while most models only offer 8-12 hour settings. So in the evenings you can set the machine to run through the night to keep you cool while you sleep but to turn itself off after you leave for work. This helps eliminate needlessly cooling your home and wasting electricity while you are not there.

Digital controls, with a remote, make operation easy and efficient. You can easily set the air conditioner to the desired temperature and get instant feedback on the fan speed and settings. A LCDI (Leakage Current Detection Interrupter) plug helps ensure safe operation in any standard 110 outlet.

What I did not like about the Alen C425 Portable Air Conditioner

Like most portable air conditioner units, the Alen is heavy. At 75 lbs. the casters are a necessity to make this unit "portable".

The Alen does not display current room temperature like some models do.

The Alen C425 is a single hose portable air conditioner. For rooms or spaces that are more open this can lead to the unit having to work a little harder to keep the room cool.

Overall, the Alen C425 is an excellent unit for additions or spaces where central air is not possible. You can set this air conditioner up as a permanent model ducted through a wall or as a portable unit that can be rolled from room to room. The ease of use and three operating modes gives you a range of functionality that is not found with traditional window air conditioners.
