4-stage HEPA Filtration System:
1) The pre-filter traps large dust particles, and can be easily cleaned by vacuuming. It lengthens and preserves the lives of the other filters.
2) The MAC-B (mass activated carbon bed) filter locks in gases and odors. It will continue working for many months before needing to be replaced.

Something that performs as it should Reviewed by: Pathegen Protection from Fayetteville, NC We have an unbeatable situation.....5 playful felines, and a wife with asthma and allergies. Oh, and a husband who needs oxygen as a result of strokes.....After reading brochures, listening to sales pitches, and generally doing research we took our IRS refund and purchased two Sandstone 6000 AllerAir Exec HEPA Air Purifiers. We purchased additional filters as we felt if they worked, we wanted to make sure the filters were "in stock". One week after ordering, the UPS delivery vehicle unloaded several large, well-packed boxes at our home. The Air Purifier and filters were packaged substantially and arrived from their Canadian manufacturer as a Drop Shipment. Assembly was simple. The units sandstone color blended in well with our existing decor and once assembled and plugged in and allowed to "change the air" my wife noticed an immediate difference in her ability to breathe. The two units, operating in separate areas, do generate some noise, but not excessive. It is much like the background noise deliberately generated in malls and public places to mask the noise of the particular place. This "white" noise is not objectionable. As a side benefit, I had occasion to call the manufacturer with respect to technical questions. The people at AllerAir are true professionals and interested in the satisfaction of the customer. It became obvious when I asked questions and the technician answered immediately those he could respond to, and later called back to provide additional information with respect to our particular units. If you are considering a unit this is not the "cheapest unit", nor is it the most expensive. It's filters are not flimsy, but substantial. The unit weighs about 62-65 pounds, is on casters for ease of movement, and yet is built with a low center of gravity to prevent being turned over by inadvertently bumping into it. I could not find any visible plastic anywhere.....the machine is steel. In short if protected breathing is your goal, this unit deserves consideration to meet your goal.

The AllerAir 6000 series of air purifiers is a natural extension of AllerAir's products, boasting even more activated carbon. This begins with 22 lbs. and offers up to 36lbs of activated carbon, a hallmark of all AllerAir purifiers. With the same sturdy construction and similar options, the AllerAir 6000 offers more of what it is known for, an excellent balance of value and practicality.

What I liked about the AllerAir 6000

As with all of the AllerAir purifiers, the 6000 series is built to last. With a tubular steel frame design these models stand just under two feet tall and offer maximum filtration for larger areas.

Like the 4000 series, the AllerAir 6000 offers four stage filtration in all of its units. One distinct difference, though, is that this line offers two anti-microbial filters. This, coupled with more activated carbon, beefs up the performance with a minimum increase to the overall cost.

Starting with 22 lbs. and containing up to 36 lbs. of activated carbon, the AllerAir 6000 offers filtration that rivals the best in the industry. In addition, AllerAir recognizes that even specific types of carbon can affect some people with extreme chemical sensitivities. To remedy this, they can customize a carbon blend that more specifically suits your needs.

From different types of actual carbon and varying depths to UV filtration technology and a VOC option, the 6000 series showcases the best that AllerAir has to offer. While not the most stylish series, AllerAir does offer three colors.

What I did not like about the AllerAir 6000

While the activated carbon is one of the major upsides to this model, the weight that comes along with it is not. These units can weigh nearly 60 lbs. once unpacked and set up. You will make good use of the casters with this model. Additionally, when changing the filters, this weight comes into play. The filters get slightly more difficult to change as they increase in weight.

For some, this purifier may be somewhat cost prohibitive. While AllerAir does offer superior filtration, if you do not need this level of performance, you may want to consider another model.

Overall the 6000 series is the upgraded, heavier duty line of AllerAir products. These products lean toward areas with higher levels of air contamination and/or industrial settings. Whether in a workplace or in your den, AllerAir offers some of the best and most thorough filtration on the market.
