Having recently finished two wonderful books highlighting the incredible life of Theodore Roosevelt, I was compelled to compile
a list of famous people who suffered from allergies or asthma. Over the next several months our newsletter will highlight a different
historical figure who had to cope with allergies or asthma.
As a child, Theodore Roosevelt’s asthma was so severe that it left his parents wondering if he would even survive. When his asthma
attacks were at their worst, his father used to get up with him in the middle of the night and take him on long carriage rides in the
open air to help him breathe. With the encouragement of his father, Roosevelt embarked upon a strenuous strength training regimen
to better equip his body to breathe. Over time, as he grew stronger, he beat asthma.
He continued exercising and loving the
outdoors his entire life, and ironically enough, he did it without modern asthma medications and treatments. I find this victory
to be very inspiring. I hope you enjoy this month’s article on Beethoven, the first allergy and asthma sufferer we highlight in our series.
