    Description

The AprilAire 1870 F Dehumidifier is Made in the USAThe Aprilaire 1870F Basement Dehumidifier is Energy Star Rated! As the last in the redesigned AprilAire 1800 line of dehumidifiers, the 1870F is not only the most robust model they offer but also Energy Star qualified. Boasting a water removal capacity of 130 pints per day (or more under extreme conditions), the Aprilaire 1870F dehumidifier for wet basements and crawlspaces is ideal where the 1850F isn't quite enough. With the highest CFM, the 1870F removes more moisture by moving more air than comparable models. This, coupled with a superior internal design allows you to dry some of the largest spaces in and around your home, up to 5000 sq. ft. in most cases.

Typically, Aprilaire dehumidifiers are fairly quiet, and the 1870F is no exception. And, unlike some models, if the relative humidity isn't above your target, the 1870F only runs when necessary, periodically to sample the air (checking humidity levels), saving energy and lending itself to quieter operation. Overall, the Aprilaire 1870 Dehumidifier is one of the most powerful solutions to damp crawlspaces and wet basements. Dry out, stop mold growth, reduce insects, and bring greater comfort to your entire home with this class leading high capacity dehumidifier for wet basements.

    Aprilaire 1870F Dehumidifier Reviews
    Aprilaire 1870F Dehumidifier

As the largest and most powerful in the new 1800 series Aprilaire dehumidifier line, the 1870F dehumidifier pairs superior water removal capacity with durability and energy efficiency to provide a long term solution to excess moisture in your home. From mold and mildew to insects and flooding, excess moisture in your home, basement, or crawlspace can cause a lot of problems, but keeping these spaces dry is the key eliminating each of these issues. With the Aprilaire 1870F dehumidifier, you get just that. How does the 1870F compare to the other models in the Aprilaire line, and what makes it the preferred choice for homeowners?

What I like about the Aprilaire 1870F

The biggest difference between the 1870F and other Aprilaire dehumidifiers (and other brands of dehumidifiers) is the water removal capacity. With a CFM over 300, this model can circulate more air than almost any other crawlspace or basement dehumidifier on the market. Moving air is only part of the equation. Superior internal design and larger coils allow the 1870F to extract 130 pints of water per day (AHAM rated), and can actually exceed that under more severe conditions. Unless there's an active, persistent leak, there just aren't many spaces the 1870F can't dry.

Despite the power, this model is Energy Star rated. So unlike comparable large basement dehumidifiers, the 1870F won't hit you near as hard on the power bill each month. It achieves this in part by dumping the traditional method of the fan running constantly and instead only run periodically, each hour, to sample the air, monitoring the currently relative humidity. When the humidity passes your set point, the condenser will kick on.

The noise level of the Aprilaire 1870F fares well when compared with other models. If you're in the space where the model is operating, you will notice when it samples the air or dehumidifies. If the 1870F is in a basement, crawlspace, or even attic, the noise is hardly (if at all noticeable) in the living areas of the home.

The Aprilaire 1870F basement dehumidifier is more accurate and easier to use than many other dehumidifiers. The digital display provides real time information regarding the conditions in your space, including the relative humidity. Gone is the dial-based humidity control, and instead you see the relative percent on a digital display. This display also provides information regarding any potential problems with the system. Casters allow for easier movement on flat surfaces, and this is key as the 1870F is NOT a lightweight machine. Lastly, the only replacement part on the dehumidifier is the MERV 8 air filter. While it's not intended to clean the air thoroughly, it does trap particles, removing them from the air in the space and keeping them out of the coils of the dehumidifier.

Aprilaire dehumidifiers are very resilient. With a built-in diagnostic system, the unit will monitor itself for potential problems and create an error code displayed on the LCD screen. With a steel frame and body, this model is built to withstand the rigors of your basement or crawlspace.

Like all Aprilaire dehumidifiers, the 1870F is manufactured here in the United States and is backed by a 5 year warranty, and a reputation for customer service that you simply don't often find when it comes to home appliances.

Overall, your key differences between the Aprilaire 1870F dehumidifier and other Aprilaire models are size, price, weight, moisture extraction and coverage. Differences between this model and other brands are durability, manufacturer reputation, where the product is made, accuracy, and ease-of-use.

This model lacks a pump but if you have a nearby floor drain, a pump is completely unnecessary, but many people have basements lower than the home's waste water lines, so a pump can be handy. Luckily, you can use just about any good condensate pump with the 1870F.

The Aprilaire 1870F dehumidifier delivers superior water removal, above average coverage area, reliability comparable to really only two other brands. The digital display is a big advantage over other brands, the durability of this dehumidifier surpasses most. Once you get the 1870F setup, it's really a convenient, long term solution to some of the most severe, persistent, excess moisture problems.
