Mom's Dust Mite Exposure Shared With Her Fetus
According to asthma and allergy researchers, moms who test positive for dust mite allergens are more likely to have infants whose umbilical cord blood tests positive for the allergen as well. Since childhood exposure to allergens can lead to increased risk of childhood asthma, their findings imply that maternal avoidance of allergens during pregnancy is another important step for reducing the risk of childhood asthma.
