_Fortunately, according to news reports, the winds are calming. Firefighters are making headway in fighting the devastating fires. At this time, no deaths have been reported, but the flames have caused irreparable harm to residents of this area of the country. Close to 1,000 homes have been damaged and over 50,000 people have been evacuated from their homes. Unhealthy smog and ash have shrouded the city.
