Blueair FAQ

How quiet are the Blueair Air Purifiers?

Blueair air purifiers are extremely quiet and efficient. The filter media allows air to pass through freely so that the fan doesn't have to work as hard. A less powerful fan translates to less noise. Even the housing of the Blueair air purifiers is designed with quiet operation in mind, replacing sound-sonant plastic with noise-muffling steel. Each Blueair air purifier comes with patented HEPASilent Filter Technology which offers near silent air cleaning for any area of your home or office.

How many filters do the Blueair Air Purifiers use?

The 200 series Blueair air purifiers use one HEPASilent filter that traps airborne particles like dust, pollen, bacteria, animal dander, and mold spores, while the models above the 200 series use three HEPASilent filters for improved air purification. Optional Smokestop filters (with a layer of activated carbon) remove odors, fumes, and gaseous pollutants. The Blueair AirPod uses one HEPASilent filter that does not contain activated carbon.

When do I need to change the filters in the Blueair Air Purifiers?

For optimal performance, we recommend that you change all Blueair air filters every six months. This will guarantee that your Blueair air purifier will continue to work effectively and efficiently to provide you with clean air. Join the Clean Air Club, achoo! ALLERGY's Filter Replacement Program, and you'll receive free reminders when it's time to change your filters.

How do I change the filters in the Blueair 200 series Air Purifiers?

It's simple! First turn off your Blueair air purifier and disconnect the power cord from the electrical outlet. Open the back door of the unit and remove the old filter and replace with the new one. Close the back door and connect the power cord back into the electrical outlet to continue receiving cleaner air.

How do I change the filters in the Blueair 400, 500, and 600 Series Air Purifiers?

First turn off your Blueair air purifier and disconnect the power cord from the electrical outlet. Firmly lift the lid off the top of the unit and remove the filter on top. Next, remove the filters from each side and vacuum the inside grille. Guide the first and second new filters into their appropriate slots. Make sure that the black side or the side marked "out" is facing outwards. Place the third filter on top of the unit and ensure that the black side or side marked "out" is facing upwards. Lastly, put the lid back onto the unit by snapping it in place. Re-plug your unit into the electrical outlet and turn it on.

How do I change the filters in the Blueair AirPod?

It's easy! Just turn off the unit, slide the filter off the base, and slide the new filter onto the base.

Can any of the filters in the Blueair Air Purifiers be cleaned and reused?

Yes, you may vacuum the Blueair air filters with a HEPA vacuum cleaner if the filter is dusty; however, it is still recommended that you change your Blueair air filters every six months to receive optimal performance.

Where's the best place to use my Blueair Air Purifiers?

Whether you're using the Blueair AirPod or the Blueair 601 air purifier, it's great to use in your office, kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, or family room. No matter where you put your Blueair air purifier, rest assured that you're using efficient and effective air purification technology.

What type of warranty comes with the Blueair Air Purifiers?

Blueair air purifiers come with a 10-year limited warranty with regular 6-month replacement of filters. Be sure to fill out and return your Blueair warranty card to ensure that your Blueair warranty is activated.

Do the Blueair Air Purifiers produce ozone?

Blueair air purifiers produce minimal amounts of ozone within the air purifier, but because of built-in safeguards, they actually reduce the amount of ozone in the room.

Who should use Blueair Air Purifiers?

Blueair is the system for people living with allergies, asthma, or other respiratory conditions, or for anyone who wants cleaner, more breathable air.

How much energy do Blueair Air Purifiers use?

Bluair air purifiers have been EnergyStar certified because they are extremely energy efficient. Blueair's phenomenally low power usage means you can run your Blueair air purifier system 24 hours a day, seven days a week without a jump in electricity consumption.

Are Blueair Air Purifiers environmentally friendly?

Blueair air purifiers offer exceptional performance without polluting the environment. Blueair designed every component to improve both human and environmental health. Each Blueair unit is energy efficient and constructed of superior materials for an exceptionally long useful life. All components in Blueair air purifiers are recyclable.

What makes Blueair filters different?

Blueair air filters incorporate a non-toxic polypropylene filter media to trap particles and an activated carbon filter media to remove gases. Polypropylene is central to the electrostatic filtration component, and both the polypropylene and carbon filters are recyclable. Additionally, polypropylene produces only carbon dioxide and water when it decomposes, and it's naturally resistant to bacteria.

What does EnergyStar Rated mean?

The ENERGYSTAR Program was created by the US Department of Energy (DOE) and the US Environment Protection Agency (EPA) to help consumers identify and purchase homes, building, and products that not only save money, but also protect the environment. A product that has been ENERGYSTAR certified ensures that the product meets the DOE and EPA’s strict guidelines for energy efficiency and superior energy performance. Energy efficient products save you on your energy bill and decrease greenhouse gas emissions. By buying ENERGYSTAR products, you not only save yourself money, but also help save the environment.
