How quiet are the Blueair Air Purifiers?
Blueair air
purifiers are extremely quiet and efficient. The filter media allows
air to pass through freely so that the fan doesn't have to work as
hard. A less powerful fan translates to less noise. Even the housing
of the Blueair air purifiers is designed with quiet operation in
mind, replacing sound-sonant plastic with noise-muffling steel. Each
Blueair air purifier comes with patented HEPASilent Filter
Technology which offers near silent air cleaning for any area of
your home or office.
How many filters do the Blueair Air Purifiers use?
The 200 series Blueair air purifiers use one HEPASilent filter
that traps airborne particles like dust, pollen, bacteria, animal
dander, and mold spores, while the models above the 200 series use
three HEPASilent filters for improved air purification. Optional
Smokestop filters (with a layer of activated carbon) remove odors,
fumes, and gaseous pollutants. The Blueair
AirPod uses one
HEPASilent filter that does not contain activated carbon.

What makes Blueair filters different?
Blueair air filters incorporate a non-toxic polypropylene filter
media to trap particles and an activated carbon filter media to
remove gases. Polypropylene is central to the electrostatic
filtration component, and both the polypropylene and carbon filters
are recyclable. Additionally, polypropylene produces only carbon
dioxide and water when it decomposes, and it's naturally resistant
to bacteria.
What does EnergyStar Rated mean?
The ENERGYSTAR Program was created by the US Department of Energy
(DOE) and the US Environment Protection Agency (EPA) to help
consumers identify and purchase homes, building, and products that
not only save money, but also protect the environment. A product
that has been ENERGYSTAR certified ensures that the product meets
the DOE and EPA’s strict guidelines for energy efficiency and
superior energy performance. Energy efficient products save you on
your energy bill and decrease greenhouse gas emissions. By buying
ENERGYSTAR products, you not only save yourself money, but also help
save the environment.
