Danby 30 Pint Dehumidifier
Each spring, we are been inundated with calls looking for the Danby dehumidifiers.
Danby is threatening to become one of the best products in the dehumidifier business, and with a solid reputation, excellent ratings among
consumer products groups and great performance, there's little reason to wonder why. Though the dehumidifiers in Danby line differ in capacity and
square footage serviced, they all offer efficient water removal at a reasonable
price. The Danby 30 pint dehumidifier is no exception to this. As the smallest Danby we offer, this compact dehumidifier features
excellent moisture removal for a price that won't bust your budget.
What I liked about the Danby 30 Pint
Like other Danbys we test, the DDR3009EE delivered first rate water removal results. During a continuous
eight hour test this compact dehumidifier removed just under 14 pints of water. At 90 degrees F. and approximately
85% relative humidity, the 30 pint exceeded estimates. So while this model, on paper, will remove 30 ppd, under more
severe conditions the Danby 30 pint dehumidifier can and will exceed that.
Similar to other Danby dehumidifiers, the 30 pint is capable of being ported. Utilizing this
direct drain option can save you the possible hassle of emptying the tank and can allow for continual use when needed. When porting
this model keep in mind there is no condensate pump built into it, so the Danby must be positioned so that the condensate
drains away by using gravity.
The Danby 30 Pint is very easy to operate. This model provides users with two simple fan settings and a built-in
humidistat control. You can set the humidity at 5% intervals between 35 and 80%. The auto defrost allows this unit to remove ice
build up then continue to run, and a the digital display will give you readings on the current relative humidity in the room where the
Danby is operating.
The Danby 30 Pint is quiet for its size. Regardless of fan setting, it produces less noise than comparable
models. Additionally, the Danby dehumidifiers are Energy Star compliant, and they use less electricity than most of their
competitors.
What I did not like about the Danby 30 Pint
Across the web you will find a lot of information showing these Danby models effective for extremely large areas. Current product specifications
from Danby rate the Danby DDR3009EE as effective for up to 2000 sq. ft. For best performance we recommend this compact dehumidifer for use in spaces
up to and around 800 sq. ft. However, depending on your exact conditions, you may very well see adequate water removal for a larger area.
The one year warranty is not as long as that offered on the
Danby 50 pint or
Danby 70 pint models.
Lastly, unlike it's Premeire counterparts, the 30 pint Danby does not come with a remote (not a big concern, especially for those of use who
already have more than enough remote controls to try to keep track of) but more importantly it lacks the auto restart feature. For those of you
looking for this specific feature we suggest the larger 50 or 70 pint Danby dehumidifier.
For its size, the Danby 30 Pint is a great dehumidifer. Though it lacks some of the technical sophistification of the larger Premeire
dehumidifiers, this Danby still outperforms most of the competition. The efficiency and Energy Star rating make this
a great choice from those of you who are looking to get a lot of bang for your buck.
