Danby 30 Pint Dehumidifier
Over the past six months, we have been inundated with calls looking for the Danby dehumidifiers.
Danby is threatening to become one of the best products in the dehumidifier business.
The models in this line differ in capacity and square footage serviced, but they all offer efficient water removal at a reasonable
price. In a 24 hour period, this unit can remove 30 pints of water from the air.
What I liked about the Danby 30 Pint
After testing this model at our facility, I was impressed by the results. Simply,
the Danby 30 Pint is very effective at removing water from the air. Although the model was tested during the hot and humid months
of summer, we were surprised to find that over the course of an eight hour period we had to empty the tank. I realize that the
conditions in your home probably are not as extreme as my warehouse testing conditions, but the amount of
moisture collected during the test period was impressive.
Depending on what area of your home you are trying to dry out, one of the best features of the Danby 30 Pint is
the direct drain line. You can set up the dehumidifier to drain directly into a pipe or run-off area. You do not
have to manually empty the tank! This feature is useful if you are using the Danby 30 Pint in a basement
or near your HVAC drain line where you can effectively tie the dehumidifier line into the existing drain line. Regardless of
whether you use it in your basement or living room, the drain line is clean and convenient.
The Danby 30 Pint is extremely easy to operate. This model provides users with two simple fan settings and a
humidistat control. When compared to a separate humidity gauge, the humidity readings on the Danby 30 pint were very accurate.
The Danby 30 Pint is quiet for its size. Regardless of fan setting, it produces less noise than comparable
models. Additionally, the Danby dehumidifiers are Energy Star compliant, and they use less electricity than most of their
competitors.
What I did not like about the Danby 30 Pint
Across the web you will find a lot of information showing these Danby models effective for extremely large areas. Literature
from Danby rates the Danby 30 as effective for up to 2000 Sq. Ft. However our tests have found this to be a bit extreme. Across our
site we have adjusted Danby coverage area by taking into account our product testing results and each units CFM
(cubic feet per minute - fan speed).
Another possible drawback is that some would consider these units heavy. The shipping weight of the Danby 30 Pint is 32 pounds.
Danby did put casters on the units, so they are easier to move on low pile carpet and hard surfaces. With a full water bucket,
these are not an appliance that I want to move often, but overall, the weight is in line with comparable models.
The one year warranty is not as long as that offered on the
Danby 50 pint or
Danby 70 pint models.
Overall, the Danby 30 Pint is likely one of the best humidifiers on the market. Our test of this Danby model gave us
excellent results with a few drawbacks. In one of their recent press releases, Consumer Reports only
supports what we found. They ranked the Danby dehumidifier as a Best Buy for dehumidifiers.
