Dehumidifiers |
Dehumidifiers regulate the humidity by removing moisture from the air, thereby creating living conditions that are inhospitable to dust mites and mold. Use a dehumidifier wherever moisture collects; they're commonly placed in basements, crawlspaces, bathrooms, and laundry rooms.
We offer dehumidifiers for all applications - from the small dehumidifier that fits under your sink, to the high-capacity,
industrial-strength dehumidifier.

Portable Dehumidifiers / Small Dehumidifiers

Our Eva-Dry Mini Dehumidifiers feature a crystallized gel that absorbs moisture in small, enclosed areas like bathrooms, closets, and under sinks; these silent, small humidifiers are 100% renewable and do not require power for operation.
The Eva-Dry 1100 Petite Dehumidifier works more like a traditional dehumidifier; it uses electricity and has a spill-proof reservoir that collects the moisture. The Eva-Dry Petite dehumidifier is very quiet and easy to use.
The Air Dryr Portable Dehumidifier is completely silent and easy-to-use - perfect for the home, office, boat, or camper. At only 2 pounds, it's conveniently portable and doesn't use much energy. Just plug it in and forget about it - there's no bucket to empty! Works in areas up to 100 square feet.

I love this so much I ordered another one. My husband and I live in a
small apartment and the bathroom has no window. It's dark, damp, and a
good place to grow mold. This is a terrific product!!! [Eva-Dry

We have a rather large family room built over a crawl space with a
minimum of ventilation. This room has proven to be a problem with
humidity and general feelings of discomfort due to the humidity levels.
We purchased the
Haier
dehumidifier HDN655E to control this room and help with the rest of
the house (needed to be easily moved to different areas). Within a
couple of days the entire house humidity was lowered to a comfortable
level and is maintained by running the unit only at night and part of
the mornings. Overall we are very satisfied with the price and
performance and portability of this unit.

Home-Made Dehumidifiers
|
|
If you enjoy do-it-yourself projects, or if you're looking for a fun science experiment, you can make your own dehumidifier using road salt (calcium chloride). Wrap the salt in cheesecloth and hang it over a bucket. The calcium chloride draws moisture out of the air, then salt water drips into the bucket.
I wouldn't use this type of dehumidifier in my home, but farmers often use it in barns to prevent the formation of mold on hay.
Note: While calcium chloride is not hazardous (it is actually a food-grade chemical), it is highly corrosive to metals, can be harsh on the skin, and can cause respiratory irritation if inhaled; therefore, we do not recommend this home-made dehumidifier for those with allergies or asthma.
