Dri-Eaz HEPA 500 Air Scrubber
The Dri-Eaz HEPA 500 is the first and only air scrubber in the market designed to deliver the highest CADR and to achieve 99.97% true HEPA efficiency at 500 CFM. AHAM's Clean Air Delivery Rate (CADR) has been used in other markets for years. This measurement is an indicator of the actual volume of cleaner air delivered per minute. CADR factors in how the filtration system and the entire machine work together and the airflow rate of the machine. Rugged and durable, this commercial grade air purifier is perfect for restoration, construction projects or any jobsite where odors and indoor air quality are important.

We were doing a remodel of our kitchen and dining rooms, and our painter suggested this air scrubber to keep the smell down in the rest of the house. It worked well and we are now using it in our basement.

Dri-Eaz HEPA 500 Air Scrubber
The HEPA 500 Air Scrubber is designed as a companion to your Dri-Eaz dehumidifiers to be used for drying purposes during water damage and clean up projects. If you are working in an area where dust, mold, and other contaminants are present or in spaces where indoor air quality is a concern, you need to purify the air with this industrial grade air purifier. The HEPA 500 comes standard with a HEPA filter to capture dangerous particles. Two separate prefilters work to trap the larger particles and increase the lifestrong of the HEPA filter. This is the first and only air scrubber in the market designed to deliver the highest CADR - and achieve 99.97% true HEPA efficiency at 500 CFM.
What I like about the HEPA 500
In our company, one of our main goals is to figure out ways to make indoor air quality better for allergy sufferers. Most commercial air purifiers and dehumidifiers do not take into account the majority of our customers. With the HEPA 500 Air Scrubber, Dri-Eaz is different. Its main job is to scrub the air clean of the pollutants that can commonly appear on restoration and water damage cleanup sites. Pathogens, germs, viruses, bacteria, and mold are all common problems when cleaning up after a flood, and these are the things the Air Scrubber specifically tackles. It is also important to keep in mind that you can upgrade beyond particle filtration to include an Activated Carbon Filter. This additional filter targets the health hazards and nuisances that can make flood repair difficult and dangerous.
One of my other favorite features of this air purifier is its ability to be stacked. "Daisy Chain" capability means that the units can be linked together, stacked tightly and safely to make a wall of air purification. On disaster sites, this can be a critical features when power and outlets are at a premium.
Use is simple and easy, and aside from changing the filters, you can drop the Dri-Eaz Air Scrubber into some of the most challenges environments and see an immediate improvement in the air quality. The lifetime warranty on the rotomolded body allows for years of service, and the Microban that is infused in the shell actively works to keep the unit free of harmful bacteria and other pathogens that are common on water damage restoration sites.
Lastly, this model is made right here in the U.S.A.
What I do not like about the HEPA 500
Dri-Eaz promotes the unit as easily transportable, but it does not have wheels. You can carry and lift the machine with the convenient handle, but it does weigh 44 pounds. You can move them between rooms or job sites, but it might not be easy for one person to load into a truck bed.
Overall, the Dri-Eaz HEPA 500 is a great commercial/industrial air purifier. From the design and construction to the air filtration results this machine is durable and built to handle the rigors of any construction or restoration site.
If you’re working with any type of mold remediation, the rule of thumb is the change the filters after each job. While the filter media itself often isn’t going to allow for active growth, debris and particles that these filters trap have the potential to become tiny mold colonies.
For most other types of jobs, you can get a more standard use out of each filter. For the HEPA filter, that is typically 1-3 years. For the prefilter, that is 6 months to a year. Again though, if you’re using it, in say, a particularly dusty environment, you may have to replace the filters on the low end of that scale since they may clog with particulate.
With the DOP and carbon filters, one year is about the expected life of each.
The cost breaks down as follows,
Standard Prefilter - $135 for 12 filters
HEPA filter - $1240 for 8 filters
Carbon Filter - $170 for 4 filters
DOP Stage 2 HEPA - $999 for 8 filters (need to double check this)
Stage 2 Prefilter - $129 for 12 filters
The one of each of the first two filters listed come standard with the Air Scrubber.
Hope that helps!
