Winter air is dry on the skin and sinuses. Artificial heat is dry and irritating as well, making winter a miserable time for some allergy
sufferers. Here are some tips for hydrating dry skin and sinuses during the winter:
Drink plenty of water. Drink more fluids to restore lost moisture to skin and
sinus membranes.
Shower faster. A short bath or shower isn't as harsh on the skin, and warm water is more gentle on the skin than extremely hot water.
Moisturize after your shower.Vanicream Skin Cream
and Vacicream Lite Lotion are recommended by dermatologists and enormously popular among
people with sensitive skin.
Irrigate your nose and sinuses.Saline sprays
and saline irrigation kits help to keep membranes moist and wash away allergens, germs, and
other irritants.
Use a humidifier.Humidifiers restore moisture to the dry air. But you
don't want your relative humidity to get too high, or mold and dust mites will become a problem. Use
a humidity gauge to keep your relative humidity just below 50 percent.
