I'll start by saying that I did not buy my DC28 from Achoo Allergy. I've had nothing but the best of service and products from AA. That said, I did buy this machine from Sears on sale in the fall of 2011. I've had nothing but problems with it ever since. and from other site reviews, I'm not alone! The clutch for the head has inherent problems and wears out quickly with regular use. It starts out a powerful joy to use, but in 6 months - junk!grinding sound out of clutch, NO suction, NO self propel motion. It is like pushing an anchor around Dyson had me send it in for repair, it came back working properly, and was back again to the same piece of junk within 6 weeks. I'm waiting to see what Dyson will do a second time.
And, the reason I'm on Achoo Allery right this moment is to look at purchasing a totally different machine. I'm done with Dyson. This was my second Dyson in 6 years. That's a lot of $$$$$ to sweep the floor.

I just purchased this vacuum to replace my older Dyson. This thing is powerful! My two dogs shed alot and so far I have had no trouble cleaning my carpets and furniture.

Dyson DC28 Animal
The new Dyson DC28 Animal Airmuscle is one of the newest and most unique upright vacuum cleaners Dyson has recently
introduced. Catering to customers who prefer traditional wheels over the Dyson Ball technology, the DC28 Animal improves
upon older version of Animal with three new features to maximize cleaning capability. This newest incarnation of the
Dyson Animal delivers cleaner surfaces at a price comparable to the other uprights in the Dyson line.
What I like about the DC28 Animal
With the DC28, Dyson introduced three new features to increase cleaning capability. First, a pneumatic actuator moves the
cleaning head. How this helps is when you are using it on smooth flooring, the cleaning head is flat to the smooth surface.
This creates a better air vacuum to pull up dirt and debris. On high pile carpet this same feature pushes the cleaning
head into the carpet to allow for better penetration and deeper cleaning.
The second feature works hand in hand with the
actuator. A powered cam adjusts the brush roll for optimal cleaning across multiple surfaces. This cam actually lowers and
raises the brush roll. On the high pile carpet setting, the cam actually pushes the brush roll into the carpet so the bristles
penetrate further and can dislodge dirt, dander and other particles lodged deep within carpet. Lastly, a clutch system allows
the DC28 to deliver the same great suction and power whether the brush roll is deep cleaning dense, high pile carpet or scooping up
pet hair on low pile carpet. These three advances combine to form what Dyson has termed Airmuscle Technology.
Fingertip controls are a step up on this Animal. There are four separate setting that adjust the DC28 for cleaning surfaces ranging
from smooth floors to dense, high pile carpet. You can also control the suction by setting the unit for smooth floors. This
disengages the brush roll and provides straight suction best suited for cleaning tile, linoleum, laminate and hardwood flooring.
With a washable HEPA filter and powerful suction, the DC28 is ideal for pet owners. Pet hair can be some of the worst
things to clean, but the Dyson Animal tackles pet hair with ease. Dyson's patented Root Cyclone technology coupled with the
new cam, the DC28 Animal has first rate suction that will last the life of the vacuum. The mini turbine head is ideal for
steps and other places pet hair tends to accumulate.
What I do not like about the DC28 Animal
Like most Dyson vacuum cleaners, the DC28 is not what I would call a small vacuum. It lacks the slim design of other
upright vacuum cleaners. Dyson addresses clearance issues by coupling the quick-draw wand with the Flat Out head attachment.
Stability has traditionally been a concern with Dyson uprights, and the DC28 Animal is no exception. While using the wand
this can be an issue for some.
Overall, the DC28 Animal is a much needed improvement over the
previous Animal models. This vacuum cleaner is extremely powerful and works remarkably well for pet owners. You might be
surprised at the dirt, dander and hair this vacuum pulls out of your carpet. An array of accessories and attachments
gives this Animal a tremendous amount of added value as well as a wider cleaning range. This upright, coupled with a 5 year
warranty and the added convenience of no bags or HEPA
filters to replace, is ideal for asthma and allergy sufferers with or without pets.
