Dyson DC41 Animal Vacuum Cleaner
As the Dyson Animal vacuum cleaner steadily evolves, certain features stay while others get improved upon or simply dropped.
With the Dyson DC41 Animal, this is certainly true. Unique upgrades improve performance and appearance while other features
have been changed or discarded, all to provide you with a better vacuum cleaner. Upon testing one, this is what we
found about the new Dyson DC41 Animal.
What I like about the Dyson DC41 Animal
To begin, I examined the new features of the Dyson DC41 Animal. Immediately you notice you change in the body style. Dyson vacuums,
though maneuverable due to the Ball feature, have long been somewhat clunky and bulky. With DC41, Dyson changed their approach and tried to slim
down the profile of this machine. So while the colors and overall design remain uniquely Dyson, the vacuum itself has been slimmed.
Next, the Root Cyclone system has been modified. Dyson changed the larger cyclonic structure over to more numerous, smaller ones, and in doing so
they were able to improve the suction of the DC41 without having to increase the size or weight of the vacuum. While using this model you'll feel the difference of the increased suction and redesigned
cleaning head while using it and see the difference when you're finished vacuuming.
Of the new improvements, the last two were the longer power cord and self adjusted cleaner head. A longer cord has long been a slight
grip with Dyson customers, and with this Animal, Dyson added extra length to increase your cleaning radius. As far as the cleaning head, when transitioning
from carpet to smooth flooring, the head drops (self adjusts) and
doesn't allow for the suction to be "wasted" by escaping around the head. While it limits what the vacuum will pull in from farther around
the head, it greatly improves the suction over areas directly in the path the cleaner head. As a side note, the cleaning head is actually larger
than older versions of the Dyson Animal.
In retaining staple features, the DC41 Animal has the same clear plastic bin, which means not dust bags to purchase - ever. The
telescopic wand with quick-draw release also remains the same, as does the warranty and washable HEPA filter. Though the filters are situated
slightly differently, they provide the same level of air filtration.
What I do not like about the DC41 Animal
We have tested a lot of vacuums over the years and this is one of the best. There are several improvements over the
DC25 Animal that make the DC41 stand out from other Dyson
vacuums. In reality the only drawback with this vacuum is the lack of suction control So instead of being able to adjust your suction, say lower for cleaning
drapes or around delicate items on a shelf, you are limited to full power, all the time.
In all, there was little not to like about the Dyson DC41 Animal. For pet owners or those with carpet in large areas of the home, this vacuum
is an ideal way to clean. From suction, cleaning radius, and the added mini turbine head to the wider cleaning path and slimmer design, the DC41 vacuum
cleaner is truly the top of the Dyson line.
