Food Allergy Restaurant Cards

If you suffer from a food allergy, you know that eating out in a restaurant can be frustrating, stressful, and sometimes downright scary. Clear communication with your server, the kitchen manager, and chef is vital to your safety; however, as we all know, sometimes restaurant servers get distracted and forget important information amidst all the chaos. The kitchen is even more hectic, and it's easy for a chef to misunderstand a server's request, especially if the request is complicated. Don't risk putting your health in the hands of others; instead, be proactive and put something else in their hands: a Food Allergy Restaurant Card (a.k.a. Chef Card). When you give your server a Food Allergy Restaurant Card with instructions to make sure that the kitchen manager gets it, you'll greatly increase the chances that your server will remember your food allergy and relay the proper information to the kitchen. Food Allergy Cards are the same size as standard business cards, and they convey a bold message that restaurant employees cannot miss. In easy-to-understand language, the card explains the food allergy, warns about cross-contamination, lists potentially dangerous foods and ingredients, and informs restaurant employees to call 911 immediately in the case of accidental ingestion of a food allergen. Waterproof and rip-resistant, Food Allergy Restaurant Cards will survive in even the most chaotic restaurant kitchens. They're designed vertically so that they can be clipped with the order ticket for increased visibility. Always carry a few allergy cards with you for those last minute dinner plans. You'll be able to breathe a little easier knowing that you've done everything possible to let the restaurant staff know about your food allergy. Food Allergy Restaurant Cards come in packs of 50 and are currently available for the following food allergies: Peanut, Tree Nuts, Shellfish, Milk/Dairy, Wheat/Gluten, Soy, and Egg.

Very helpful
I purchased the tree nut allergy cards and it makes going out to eat easier, though the warning on the back list products that are not true allergens but I suppose could be linked to foods that possibly could have nuts in them. Better safe than sorry. Overall, they are a handy tool.

Help a teenager become more independent
I ordered the food allergy cards for my son as he was going to be spending the summer away from home at a boy scouts camp. Additionally, this past year he was exposed to food that was cross contaminated while on a school field trip. The cards are very informative. They give me the piece of mind that he is less likely to have a severe food reaction when eating at a restaurant when he is not with us. He soon will be driving. The food allergy cards will assist him in managing his allergy. They leave no room for confusion. Additionally, they convey the seriousness with which a food allergy needs to be handled by others. Furthermore, we found them helpful as they indicated sources of possible reactions that we were even unaware of e.g., salad dressings, lunch meats ham, bologna etc.. Excellent tool that fits easily in a wallet.

Restaurant Cards
I ordered these cards on the advice of my son's allergist. Initially there was a problem in that my order never arrived. I contacted customer service, and they got back to me the same day that they tracked the package and it had been damaged in shipping and was sitting in the post office. They ordered me a new set that same day and I received it only a few days later. I was very pleased with the customer service response and how quickly they handled the matter. The cards are eye catching and informative and will give me peace of mind when we're out or if my son goes out with someone else to eat. They don't take the place of telling your server verbally but serve as a great reminder for the kitchen.

A Must Have for Children
Since our little one was diagnosed with severe tree nut allergies, we have become aware of the risk of foods containing them. But, for those who prepare food in restaurants, schools, churches, and preschools, it is not on their radar to avoid cross exposure. Explaining our little one's allergy is so much easier now that we have these little warning cards. It is a concise explanation of the allergy and while it certainly doesn't list all the possibilities - I think it gives them an important "take note and take care" message that I hope will keep my child safe. Of course, we still carry the necessary emergency meds - but the card is a way of communicating the importance of the allergy upfront and arms us with a tool to express our needs to those who would be giving our little one something to eat. Excellent quality - and small like a business card so I can always carry a few in my purse. Right now our little one is unable to tell others about the allergy, but with age, I'm sure my little one will love having these cards to give to others too. Communication is such a necessary thing in making sure lives are not at risk.

The Card for US!
Our 2 year old grandson has been recently diagnosed with a peanut allergy. So many questions go through your mind. How do we keep him safe? How do we communicate his needs to others - grandparents, aunts, uncles, sitters, etc. We live outside of Chicago and have found that each restaurant has been very receptive and cooperative when we give them a card denoting his allergy. The Food Allergy Restaurant Card is perfect for those times when we dine out as a family. It makes the wait staff, manager, and chefs clearly aware of what ingredients pose a danger to our two year old. We carry some with us whenever we are out. Thank You!
