Washable Plates and Filters

The Friedrich C90B Electrostatic 4-Stage Process uses electrostatic and carbon filters instead of HEPA filter. It has received high Clean Air Delivery Rates (CADR)

Appliance Manufacturers). The Friedrich C90B utilizes a 4-stage air
purifying process: |

1) The pre-filter catches the larger particles as air is
drawn through the rear grille.
2) In the ionizing section of the electronic cell, billions
of microscopic particles become electrically charged as they pass
over a powerful electric field.
3) The collector plates immediately attract and collect these
charged particles.
4) An activated carbon filter removes most common odors and
fumes as air is circulated back into the room.

 No more sneezing!

I have a piano studio with a resident cat and dog. I had four students that started sneezing and blowing every time they entered my door. I tried Orek, and it didn't help at all. Then I read in Consumer Reports Magazine that the Friedrich C-90B was on the top of the list for efficiency. I gave it a try. It was amazing. Not one sniffle. I used to have to supply kleenex and a trash can! It's clean air for me from now on!

I have owned this for a year and I have run it on the low setting for the entire year nonstop, except to wash the electronic collection grid and replace the filters. It runs quiet and cleans the air like a champ. Coming home to fresh air is so nice. No ozone either!

Friedrich C-90A Electrostatic Air Purifier:
I purchased the Friedrich C-90 Air Purifier when I moved in with my
roommate who happens to be a smoker. Even though she smokes on the
front porch, I still felt like some of the smoke was reaching the
inside of the house. I was looking for a solution that did not
involve expensive HEPA or Carbon filter changes, so the Friedrich was
the perfect solution. I could tell a huge difference in the air
within the first hour of operation and it is so easy to maintain.
The Friedrich contains a pre-filter, which captures larger particles,
electrostatic collector plates, which captures smaller particles,
and a carbon filter which helps to remove odors and also absorbs any
ozone created by the electrostatic precipitator.
What I like about the Friedrich C-90A Electrostatic Air Purifier:
- Easy to use and clean (The Electrostatic collector plates can be
placed in the dishwasher and the pre-filter can be washed off or
vacuumed off)
- No expensive filters to replace (carbon filter must be replaced
every 3 months for $27.99)
- Comes with a one year warranty
What I didn't like about the Friedrich C-90A Electrostatic Air
Purifier:
- Loud on the highest setting
- Not very nice to look at
- Doesn’t have casters
In summary, I give the Friedrich 3 out of 5 stars. I think that the
Friedrich is loud compared to a lot of the other air purifiers on the
market today. I would recommend this product to anyone who is
looking to remove smoke, dust, pollen, or pet dander from the air.
The main benefit to the Friedrich is the low maintenance costs.
