Haier CPN14XC9 Portable Air Conditioner
As the largest Haier portable air conditioner we offer, the CPN14XC9 is the top of the Haier line up when it comes to cooling power, efficiency and
square footage covered. As a dual hose model, this unit outpaces the others in cooling efficiency of the remainder of the Hair Cool Comfort line up.
With the same electronic features as the smaller models, the CPN14XC9 is ideal for areas up to and exceeding 500 sq. ft. More most people this will
provide cooling comfort for nearly in room in your home.
What I liked about the Haier CPN14XC9
Easily the best feature of this unit is the dual nature of the air conditioner. A dual hose air condition lends itself to greater efficiency and
more rapid cooling ability. The CPN14XC9 falls into this category. With this 14,000 BTU portable air conditioner, even the largest spaces in your home or office can be cooled quickly and efficiency.
With this increased size also comes and increased ability to dehumidify. The Haier CPN14XC9 removes more water than any other in this series, so whether
cooling or removing excess moisture this model is at the front of the line when it comes to Haier portable air conditioners.
The dual hose, in simpliest terms, means that none of the air that is cooled to circulate throughout your room is used to cool the motor of this unit.
This is critical because single hose units do use some of the cooled air to cool the motor and this takes away from the total volume of cooled air that can
ultimately get circulated back into your room. Instead a second hose pulls air from outside the room to cool the motor, thus increasing the
overall cooling efficiency.
From all of the models we have tested, the Haier models were by far, the most well packed. This is very important considering how large and expensive some
portable air conditioners can be. And of the five dual hose models we tested, the Haier CPN14XC9 is by far the easiest to
assemble. The hose snap together quickly and
threading the two couplings on is much easier than with nearly another other portable air conditioner we have examined.
Like the other CPN models the 14,000 BTU air conditioner features the same great electronic conveniences as the smaller version, including a timer, remote,
full tank indicator, thermostat, real time temperature readings, and an auto restart function for when the power fails.
Also like the smaller Haier models, this unit features the same attractive design and easy to manage user interface. While not critical to the functionality, the
design of these models is very modern and sleek. And ultimately, as a large appliance they may end up in your living room or bedroom,
aesthetics can important.
What I did not like about the Haier CPN14XC9
As with most, drainage is not an easy task. This
model exhausts most of the moisture out with the warm
air it blows out, but still there is condensate that
collects in a tank that needs to be drained. The plus
side to this model is that even though the condensate drain may only sit 1/4" higher off of the floor
than other models, that 1/4" of extra room can be a big difference. It can be the difference between easily sliding a broiler plate under the drain as it normally sits there and
having to hold the unit at an angle to create enough space to slide a small pan under it.
The size of this model may be a bit too much for some. With a larger capacity and coverage area, this model is very heavy. But you can't really
obtain 14,000 BTU's of cooling power from something the size of a toaster. So it's a trade off for most of us. With increased cooling and efficiency comes
increased size.
Overall, this is likely one of the best Haier portable air conditioners available. The massive cooling ability coupled with its efficiency and relatively
reasonable price point make this dual hose portable air conditioner ideal for many larger areas in the home or office. Ease of use and design are nice
bonus features, but the performance of this model is what will keep you happy.
