For smaller rooms and spaces in your apartment or home, the Haier CPRB08XCJ portable dehumidifier is a compact cooling unit that delivers 8,000 BTU's of cooling power. Like all air conditioners and dehumidifiers, the CPRB08XCJ extracts water as it cools, but instead of having to empty a bucket, this single hose portable air conditioner uses auto evaporation to expel most of the extracted water out the exhaust hose. Three separate modes allow you to use this model as a cooling unit, dehumidifier or simply a fan, and as with all the Haier portable air conditioners we offer, the CPRB08XCJ use the eco friendly R-410A refrigerant. So for areas 200 sq. ft. or less, where central air and window air conditioners are not an option, the Haier CPRB08XCJ is an ideal cooling solution.

Customer Q & A

Q1: Where do i add refrigerant to my Haier CPRB08XCJ portable air conditioner. Is there a connection that i need?

A: It's generally not recommended for you to add refrigerant on your own. For this, I would suggest you contact Haier support 1-877-337-3639. Generally, you shouldn't have to add refrigerant unless there is a leak in which case the leak needs to be fixed or something else is not working properly.

Q2: Besides the exhaust hose, do we need another hose for the dripping of the water? There is a 3/8 hole at the bottom and it drips water all over the place.

A: There should be a plug for that small port in the back/bottom. That is to drain the internal condensate tank. You could, however, use a small piece of hose with small clamp easily found at an automotive parts store or perhaps local hardware store, attach it then run the line to a nearby drain. It would drain simply by gravity, so you couldn't run the line up any grade, but that would eliminate the need to have to periodically use a small/low pan and drain the water into that. For this, elevating the unit, even a few inches, would help.

Q3: How do I obtain an owner's manual for a unit that was given to me and the papers were lost?

A: Nearly all of our Portable Air Conditioners have user's manuals on our website at the bottom of the product page. There should be a link to it there.

Haier Portable Air Conditioner Reviews

Haier CPRB08XCJ Portable Air Conditioner

The Haier CPRB08XCJ portable air conditioner is a lightweight, compact unit ideal for small to medium sized rooms. Unlike other portable air conditioners, this Haier 8000 BTU air conditioner exhausts nearly all the moisture extracted through the outtake hose. So there is no messy condensate bucket to drain! As a single hose portable air conditioner, the Haier CPRB08XCJ uses less energy than many other models and won't take up much space an any room. Digital controls add convenience, and the new R-410A refrigerant is eco-friendly. After using this models in a 15' x 12' test space, here is what we liked and what we found lacking in this Haier portable air conditioner.

What I liked about the Haier CPRB08XCJ

Right off the bat, what we noticed about this particular model was the size. As one of the most compact portable air conditioners we offer, the Haier CPRB08XCJ also has free rolling casters. The weight and size makes this model much more attractive for those who may have difficulty moving or installing the larger, heavier units.

Unlike other portable air conditioner models, this Haier does have three separate modes. It has a specific and separate cooling, dehumidifying and fan modes. This provides a little more versatility in that if you want to dehumidify, you can without drastically cooling the room where this unit operates.

The auto evaporation feature on this model is more comprehensive than many other portable air conditioners. The Haier CPRB08XCJ does have an internal condensate tank to collect moisture, but exhuast the vast majority of the collected the water through the exhaust hose.

The digital features are similar to that of larger models. It has three speeds, three functions, a remote, 24 hour timer and a digital thermostat. All of these work to make the unit a well rounded and easy to operate portable air conditioner.

Lastly, the CPRB08XCJ uses R-410A refrigerant instead of the older R-22. This meets the new environmental standards set for coolants in home appliances. In addition to this, this Haier model meets the European Union's RoHS directive. This is a restriction that means this product is free of Lead, Mercury, and other heavy metal substances that often cause health problems and have a negative impact on the environment.

What I did not like about the Haier CPRB08XCJ

Likely the largest drawback to some will be this air conditioner's strength to others. The Haier CPRB08XCJ is compact. So while this is ideal for some, the unit may not provide as much cooling power as larger, more powerful models.

While the CPRB08XCJ uses less electricity than larger portable air conditioners, it is not quite as efficient. With an EER of 8.5, the Haier CPRB08XCJ doesn't deliver quite as much cooling power in relation to energy consumed. Though for most people, the savings less electric usage will likely offset less energy efficiency.

In all, the Haier CPRB08XCJ is one of the most compact cooling units we offer. As a truly portable air conditioner, it is an ideal solution for cooling small to medium sized rooms where central air or window units are not an option. Perfectly suited for bedrooms, computer server rooms or dorms rooms, this versatile air conditioner can deliver 8,000 BTU's of cooling power quickly and conveniently.
