Honeywell 50250 Air Purifier |
As one of the largest and most popular air purifiers in the Honeywell air purifier
line, the Honeywell 50250 air purifier is an inexpensive, but
very effective air cleaner. With a large, true HEPA filter and activated carbon pre-filter, the 50250 captures submicron particles
down to 0.3 microns in size while providing a basic level of smoke and odor control. For mild to moderate particle allergies, this HEPA
air purifier will efficiently trap dust mite allergen, mold spores, pet dander, and other common particle allergens.
The long-lasting HEPA filter reduces your overall maintenance costs while a 360 degree intake/outflow promotes even circulation of
purified air throughout your home. The Intelli-Check electronic filter indicator reminds you when to clean
the HEPA filter and when to replace the carbon pre-filter. The Honeywell 50250
is effective for larger rooms up to 390 sq. ft. |

    Breath of Fresh Air
Reviewed by: Asthma and Allergy Sufferer from Louisville, KY

I recently learned I have asthma hence the reason I could not breath. I was advised to try an air purifier in the home to assist with breathing easier. I purchased the Honeywell 50250. It works great. I can really tell a difference. Also the price on this air purifier was great compared to some models and it really does the job. I can now take a deep breath of fresh air with ease. Great product and great info on the web site to assist in choosing.

I purchased this unit to be used in my office at work. Due to federal regulations we have to keep the door closed to our space and so we do not get much air flow. This unit allows the air flow needed and we have all noticed we do not sneeze near as much as we did before.

    Three so Far
Reviewed by: Clean Air Lover from Sacramento

I purchased a Honeywell 50250 for my granddaughter who was having allergy problems. My daughter said the results were amazing almost immediately. So much so that she intends to buy another unit for another level in her house. I too was suffering from constant stuffiness, so I purchased one myself and results were immediate. It is amazing the difference in the air quality in my home, and it is great in eliminating odors too. I would never do without again. My ex also bought one on our daughter's recommendation, and she too is extremely happy that she did.

Customer Q & A
Q1: I have a Honeywell 50250 when I turn it to high it sounds like there is something loose in the top. I cannot figure how to get the top loose to see.
A: Like most air purifiers, the Honywell 50250 is a really basic machine. If you remove the bottom plate and pull both filters, you'll see the motor. If you reach your hand underneath the motor you can feel the driveshaft and follow it to the fan/blower assembly. It is simply a cylindrical plastic drum with angled blades. If you are hearing a rattling it almost has to be something loose with the drum or with the shaft that drives the drum. You can begin to disassemble the unit from the bottom, but it gets difficult very quickly b/c most of the screws mounting the top to the bottom part are concealed. I would first try to determine if there is something banging around in the drum or if the drum or driveshaft has much play in it. A lot of play or slop would cause the drum assembly to strike the housing of the unit, creating noise and possibly breaking the blade at some point. If you can find nothing floating in the drum and it falls within the 5 year warranty you should check your owners manual about returning it to Kaz for return or replacement. A copy of the manual can be found at the bottom of this page in the Additional Resources section.

Honeywell 50250 Air Purifier
The Honeywell series of air purifiers are an economical choice
that offer a range of capacities suited to meet the needs of most
rooms in the average household. Offering excellent basic filtration
with few frills, these units provide efficiency without busting your
budget.
What I like about the Honeywell 50250 Air Purifier
Like all of the units in this line, the 50250 and 50200 are both
compact and light. They are cylindrical in shape and draw air in
from a 360 radius. A handle on top makes them easy to move, and
because of their size, they will fit, unobtrusively, just about
anywhere in the home.
They are simple and convenient to use and maintain. With a basic
three speed control, Intelli-Check technology, sleep mode, and a
long-lasting HEPA Filter, the 50250 and 50200 provide all the
fundamentals of air filtration with no needless features. The Intelli-Check will keep you informed as to the performance of the
filter and when each needs to be changed. The pre-filter generally
needs to be changed once every three months. Simply unscrew the
bottom, slide the HEPA filter out, unwrap the old pre-filter, then
wrap the new one around the HEPA and reassemble. The HEPA filter can be cleaned and should last 3 years.
What I did not like about the Honeywell 50250 Air Purifier
All of the models in this line are a bit noisy. On low speed the
noise is hardly noticeable, but at higher speeds the volume
increases a good deal.
Overall, whether you choose any of the units in this series, you
will be getting an air purifier that is inexpensive and low
maintenance but one that offers fine results. Any of these units
would work well for environments with low to medium levels of
contaminants, including cigarette smoke, pollen, dust or pet dander.
Those concerned with VOCs, high levels of pollutants, or someone
with multiple pets should likely consider a different model. |
