I'm very allergic to dust mites, pollen, and pet dander, but needed to deep clean my apartment because of bad allergy symptoms. The last time I dusted and vacuumed I was so congested and ill over the next few days that I thought I had a sinus infection. I purchased this hepa filtered mask, which I used while vacuuming and allergy treating my apartment, and there was a huge difference in how I felt afterwards.
I also have asthma and am sensitive to chemicals or any type of harsh smell. I used the mask while spray painting and not only did I not start wheezing, but I also couldn't even detect any of the chemically smell. And as an added bonus, it kept me from inhaling any of the dust while sanding and helped with my outside allergies!

Customer Q & A
I have asthma and cannot be outside with the weed or grass pollen.
I haven't been able to use my outdoor hot tub because of my allergies. I am also disabled an desperate to get back in my hot tub as I helps me greatly. Would I be able to use this product when I'm in my hot tub? If not could you recommend something that I can use?
A: You could use any of the masks in the hot tub, just try to avoid getting them wet. With this mask in particular, the body/shell of the mask can be wet but you'll want to keep the filters dry. Additionally, should a little water splash up on them not like you completely submerge the mask, simply allow it to completely air dry and you should be just fine using that set of filters again. Hope that helps!
Q2: I would like to know how people that wear glasses have fared wearing this mask. I have had issues trying to get a comfortable fit with dust masks and keeping from having gaps that let in dust and pollen
A: Most people encounter some issue with glasses and masks. It usually stems from either a bad seal around the cheeks and nose or simply needing to be adjusted. We often get people who mention that the mask just needed to be adjust properly to ensure the seal around the cheek/nose area, and it took care of any fogging. With this mask in particular, the rubber shell does seal well around the face if adjusted properly, and two straps give you the ability to keep the mask tight to the face. So by in large, most people who have had any issues have been able to simply adjust them out. Hope that helps!
Q3: How long do the filters last for?
A: Typically you'll get about 60-80 hours of use, but there is a good deal of variability built into that number. It will shift depending on how frequently you use, what the concentration of particles is in the space where you are using it, what type of activity are you doing with the mask on, etc. All these things and drive that number up or down. Since there is no activated carbon, people tend to stretch these filters a bit longer. So as final rule of replacement, if it's starting to get difficult to pull air through/breathe, replace it.

3M 6291 HEPA Mask
The 3M 6291 HEPA Mask is one my favorite face masks. Unlike disposable masks, the 6291 is durable and can be used repeatedly. I
have owned this mask for a several years, and have changed the
HEPA filter cartridges twice. I use this mask for just about everything from yard work to more heavy duty projects like
like replacing the grout in our shower. Depending on usage, you may have to replace the filters more often, so
this will vary depending on use. After several years of service, this my assessment of the 6291 respirator.
What I like about the 3M 6291 HEPA Mask
Offers HEPA quality filtration of oil and non-oil based particles
Versatile filtration ideal for a wide range of uses from pollen and mold particles while raking leaves to
filtering oil based particles you might encounter while staining or working with wood or fiberglass while renovating or
working on your home
Creates a very tight seal
It is durable and easy to clean after dirty projects - rinse respirator itself with warm water or with a mild detergent (filters NOT washable)
Fits very snugly with two straps and is fully adjustable
What I did not like about the 3M 6291 HEPA Mask
As with any tight sealing mask, in warm conditions it will make the area around my mouth sweat, so some
moisture will get trapped inside
In all, the 3M 6291 HEPA Mask is the best masks we offer. With NIOSH P100 filtration, this respirator is one of the most versatile available today.
It is completely sealed, non latex, HEPA grade, and you can replace the filters when necessary. If you, have allergies, do a lot of yard
work, work in a shop or in places where things toxic and non-toxic particles are a concern, I strongly suggest using this mask.
The filtration this mask provides also exceeds the CDC's recommended filtration level (N95) to help prevent the spread of the
influenza virus. Aside from it being a little warm with extended use or in warm conditions, there is very little not to like about this
durable HEPA respirator.
