The
Respro Allergy Mask, formerly named Aero Mask, is designed for allergy
sufferers and individuals sensitive to chemicals and
other air particles. Developed with an understanding of
the debilitating effects of chemical and particle
sensitivity and how submicron particles can be particularly harmful
to your health, the Allergy mask protects you from these dangerous
chemicals and particulates that circulate throughout the
indoor and outdoor air you breathe.
With both chemical and
particle filters available, the Respro Allergy mask filters irritants like cleaning agents, perfumes, soap, paint, varnish,
air fresheners and other common chemicals, as well as particulates
like pollen, plant spores, pet dander, mold, cigarette smoke, house
dust and dust mite feces. Particle filters are standard while the
Chemical filter must be purchased separately.
Allergy masks are made from inert hypoallergenic materials and are highly
unlikely to cause an allergic reaction. The Techno valves are made
from polypropylene, with medical grade silicon rubber diaphragms.
This polyester face mask is ultra-light weight and air permeable, allowing you
to breathe easily. The sporty design is comfortable, washable, and
reusable. It is available in three sizes:
Large Allergy Mask, distance from top to bottom:
4.75". Fits people under 6' in height - most men.
Medium Allergy Mask, distance from top to bottom: 4.5". Fits
people under 5' 8" in height - most women.

We offer two types of replacement filters:
Particle filter - for particulate matter down to less than one micron
Chemical and Particle filter - for particulate matter and chemicals
Both replacement filters come in size Medium or Large. The Medium size filters
also fit the Repro Allergy Small mask.
These polypropylene filter afford HEPA-type protection against
tiny pollutants and conform to strict European standards.

This is worth the money. Very effective in filtering out pollens--and with the carbon filter sold separately quite good with pollutants. Easy to put on, take off, feels more comfortable against the face than just about any other mask I've worn. Make sure you have extra particle and pollutant filters on hand. Especially pollutant filters--once such a filter wears out, wearing the mask is worse than not wearing it. I rated it at 4, not 5, because the white mask gets dirty easily.

I have had to use a mask for the last 5 years for an allergy to perfumes and other such scents. Never getting complete satisfaction because the other masks let some of the particles in and instant reaction.
Now my husband has to tell me if they are there because he reacts to them but with this mask no reaction at all by me. Allergy free so now I can go shopping and maybe to a concert again. I can't tell you how happy I am. Thank you

I bought this mask to help with construction dust at work. It worked great and kept my allergy symptoms to a manable level so that I was able to continue working. My only complaint is that it is not that comfortable. The nose piece pinched off my nose too much no matter how much I played with it. I would still buy this because the advantages outweighed the discomfort.

Q1: Hi! I have two questions about this mask. First of all, how does this mask do as far as protecting from pollen? Second, can the filters be cleaned and reused, or do they have to be replaced after a certain amount of hours?

A: No washing, but on average you get about 60 hours of use out of them. If you go with the chemical/particle filters separate, put the mask in a bag between uses since the activated carbon/charcoal will continue to adsorb odors/chemicals even when you're not wearing it. Filter life will vary a bit depending on conditions. In terms of filtration and particularly pollen, they work really well. The filtration level is 95% of particles 0.3 microns or larger. Most pollen grains far exceed that size and trapped by the filters of the Allergy Mask. Hope that helps!
Q2: Are the filters washable? Replaceable? How often? What's the cost ans availability?
A: Replaceable, average about once every 60 hours of use. I always recommend you put the mask/fitlers in a plastic bag between uses to help extend the life of the carbon in the filter. Times will vary a bit based on usage and the level of pollutants you encounter. We have replacement filters almost always in stock. On occasion, because they are a UK product, we may go out of stock for a week or so. Particle filters are $16.95 and Particle/Chemical filters are $23.95. Both can be found on the site.
Q3: Which mask is good for haircolor fumes. I'm a hairstylist allergic to haircolor.
A: The Aero, Sportsta, or Techno, of the Respro brands, are your best bets. The other mask you may want to consider is the Honeycomb carbon mask. It's lighter and less obtrusive. The downside is that it doesn't seal around the face quite as well as the Respro brand masks. And remember if you go with a Respro, you'll need to purchase the particle/chemical filters. These contain the activated carbon you'll want to filter out these fragrances and chemicals. The Honeycomb carbon mask has carbon integrated into the filters as well.
