Miele S5 Vacuum Cleaner Carpet Attachments

Miele S5 vacuum cleaners come with one of three attachments. The SEB 236 (full size) and SEB 217-3 (mid size) are ideal for any type of carpet. The differences between the SEB 236 and the SEB 217 are:

• The SEB 236 is wider
• The SEB 236 features adjustable height control
• The SEB 236 has a light and bumper strip

Both Powerheads feature an electrically driven roller which gives these attachments the power to pull hair and ground in dirt out of deep pile carpet. Anyone with wall-to-wall carpet, thick carpet or pets should consider one of these two attachments.

The STB 205-3 has an air driven roller that is best on low to medium pile carpet. While the STB 205-3 is an option for any of the S5 vacuum cleaners, the Capricorn, Aquarius and Callisto all come standard with a much more powerful brush.

When purchasing the Capricorn or Aquarius you can select either the SEB 217-3 or SEB 236-3.

Miele S5 Vacuum Cleaner Hard Floor Tools

For all Miele vacuum cleaners, you have three options for smooth floor cleaning. The primary brush is the Parquet Floor Brush. With horsehair bristles and an expanded range of motion, this attachment is slim, maneuverable and light. The bristles easily dislodge and collect particles on hardwood and tile flooring. The Combo Tool is another good option for most types of smooth flooring, though for delicate flooring, opt for the Parquet or Smooth Floor Brush. With the flip of a switch you can change the setting to either low pile carpet or smooth surfaces. The last brush option is the Smooth Floor Brush. This tool has synthetic bristles, a slim body, and two small wheels to aid its floor movement. The main difference between this and the Parquet brush is the type of bristles used.

With the purchase of a Miele S5 canister vacuum, the Parquet Floor Brush is standard. Selecting the Smooth Floor Brush is really only an option if you are replacing a worn brush or have a personal preference. Since one of the three brushes listed in the first chart also comes standard with all S5 models, there is also likely little need for the Combo Floor Tool with any of the S5 vacuum cleaners.
