Customer Q & A
Q1: is this attachment okay with hand scraped hardwood floors?
Yes, but in general, I recommend you opt for the Twister Parquet floor tool http://www.achooallergy.com/miele-sbb-300-3-twister-hard-floor-tool.asp The reason is, this one has no metal sole plate, so there's no chance of say a small rock, pebble or piece of something like kitty litter becoming wedged between the metal sole plate and floor. This is unlikely, but it only takes a second for something hard to become wedged and with one swipe you may leave a scratch. For delicate flooring, the Twister is the easiest way to eliminate this concern. You can also opt for the larger version of the Twister, the Twister XL http://www.achooallergy.com/miele-twister-xl-sbb400-3.asp Same tool, just wider.
Q2: Does this work with the Miele S163 stick vac?
Yes. Straight suctions attachments are all interchangeable with any Miele vacuum, including the stick uprights.
Q3: Will the -2 or -3 tools such as this floor tool work with the S7 series uprights?
Yes. You could take any straight suction tool parquet floor tool, combo tools, etc. and use it to clean while attached to the wand of an S7 Miele. The most common way this works out is some will purchase the STB 300-3 Parquet tool and use it with the wand of the S7 for quicker cleaner on smooth floors. Also, the only difference between -2 and -3 Miele floor tools is the plastic knob on the back of the collar of the attachment. This is the piece that, with a canister, slides into the grooves on the side and base of a Miele canister, allowing you to "park" the attachment. With an S7, the -2 vs -3 makes no difference since there is no "park" feature with the uprights.
