Miele S6 Canister Vacuums - Carpet Attachments

At the top of the line, the Miele Topaz is the only vacuum cleaner that comes standard with an electrically driven powerbrush. Equipped with the SEB 217-3 powerbrush the Topaz is well suited for medium pile and even some high pile carpeting. The mid-size SEB 217-3 cleans a 10.5" path and can be switched off via a brushroll control button on the Topaz's ergonomic handle.

For most homes, the SEB 217-3 is a good choice because it features the power of the larger powerbrushes without the weight or expense. For very dense carpet or for those with pet, you can upgrade to the SEB 236 or SEB 228 at any time. Both of these feature wider cleaning paths as well as height adjustments, and the 236 is equipped with an LED lamp to light your cleaning path.

For lower pile carpet and some smaller areas of medium pile carpet, the STB 205-3 is up to the task. This air-driven turbobrush works well in pulling up debris and even pet hair on low pile carpet, rugs and medium pile carpet. The Miele Onyx comes standard with this carpet cleaning tool, though the STB 205-3 is an optional upgrade for both the Red Velvet and the Quartz.

It is worth noting that while only one of the Miele S6 canister vacuums comes standard with an electric wand and hose, all can be upgraded to work with a powerbrush. The Onyx, Red Velvet, Quartz and Jasper can all be fitted with electric hoses and wands to work with powerbrushes. Though often, it is less expensive to simply purchase a vacuum that is already equipped with these features rather than upgarde these models.

Miele S6 Canister Vacuum Attachments - Smooth Floor Tools

With each Miele S6, there are essentially four smooth floor attachments. As the standard hard floor tool for Miele, the Miele Twister provides both effective cleaning and a slim profile, ideal for tight spaces. With a mixture of polyamide and natural horsehair bristles and a wide range of motion, this attachment is slim, maneuverable and lightweight. You'll find that this tool is delicate enough for any type of flooring but durable enough to dislodge and collect hair, dust and debris. The Twister is standard with the Miele Topaz and Onxy vacuums.

Identical in design but larger is size, the Twister XL Floor Tool is 4.5" wider than the standard Twister, giving you a full 16" cleaning path to make quicker work or large areas of smooth flooring.

Next is the Miele Smooth Floor Brush. This tool has synthetic bristles, a slimmer body, and two small wheels to aid its floor movement. The primary differences between this tool and the Twisters are theh composition of the bristles and the size of the attachment. Many people simply have a preference for the slimmer design, but all three clean effectively.

The final Miele attachment is the SBD 285-3 attachment. The combo smooth floor tool features a rocker switch that retracts the bristles for better cleaning of low pile carpet and area rugs. With the bristles extended, this vacuum attachment delivers similar smooth floor cleaning results to that of the Twister. Though, for delicate flooring we recommend the Twister or Twister XL. The SBD 285-3 is very versatile and is the standard attachment with both the Red Velvet and Quartz.
