I purchased this Airtube in 2009 with the Vocarb carbon filter. It very quickly began to emit a nauseating sweet-acrid smell. I replaced the filter, and the smell continued.
In purchasing another filter, I did research into different types of activated carbon wood, petroleum, bamboo, and other bases. Before making another $500 mistake, I wanted to learn from the AllerAir company what type of carbon they had used in the filter that had irritated my chemical sensitivities.
Over a two month period, I left 3 voicemails, send 3 letters, and never received a response -- today, someone told me that this was proprietary corporate information.
For a company that markets expensive devices to people with chemical sensitivities, it is alarming that they won't disclose the ingredients.

I purchased an AirTube for my niece, so her son can have clean, pathogen reduced air. The unit is quiet and easy to move about. HEPA and charcoal filters plus UV kill are key features we wanted.
Seems to have the same solid build of larger room purifiers in my home. So far, my larger AllerAir purifiers are trouble free with durability and ease of filter changes. I expect the same for the AirTube.
If the industrial look of AllerAir filters does not hurt your home decore and you want a filter that works for many years, AllerAir is my top choice.
PS- I do not work for AllerAir. I just like to breathe clean air!

We've had an AllerAir in our home for over five years now and always been pleased with how well it works for us. So, when I had to start traveling more for work I decided to try one of AllerAirs "portable" models. I bought the regular Air Tube and actually had a hard, plastic case made for it so I wouldn't have to worry about it getting dented when I flew with it. It is probably a little heavier than I would have liked, but I didn't really expect otherwise since I know our home air purifier is very heavy. In any event, it works great, gives me the same great results as the 5000 we have at home. Great product, though heavier and a little more expensive than other portable units.

This air purifier is more powerful than I thought it would be. I needed something small but was surprised by its power. Thanks, AllerAir.
