The William, an ultrasonic humidifier by Stadler Form, is the perfect example of stylish design and useful performance and functionality
working hand in hand. Relieve the symptoms of severely dry indoor air effectively and quickly with the compact but powerful William. Winter months, when we
use forced air heating systems, can severely dry out a home, to the point where it is uncomfortable. Especially for someone coping with eczema or asthma,
extremely dry indoor air can cause coughing, itching and dry or cracked sinuses. The William offers a way to remedy this situation, and with our showroom
model in hand, I discovered the highs and lows of William.
What I like about the Stadler Form William Humidifier
The humidity output of the William is one of the most impressive features of this model. Putting out just as much moisture as an evaporative model twice its
size, the William by Stadler Form is a powerful tool to keep your home feeling more comfortable. With a daily output capacity
of nearly 3.5 gallons, the William is
able to combat even some of the most severe dry conditions in your home.
Another great feature of the William is its coverage area. With an open floor plan, the William ultrasonic can help keep spaces up to 100 sq. ft. feeling
more comfortable. In addition to the coverage, this model gives you the ability to customize your humidity level. A built-in hygrostat allows you to set the
target humidity between 40% and 75%. When it reaches your desired humidity level, it will stop and only kick on again when the humidity level dips below your
In terms of hygiene, the William employs the Ionic
Silver Cube, a device that continuously emits silver
ions into the tank. This prevents the growth of bacteria
and microbes, a common problem with standing water. A
demineralization cartridge gives you the ability to use
just about any water. Prior to using the William, use
the water hardness test strip that can be found taped to
the back of the user manual. This will test the hardness
of your water and give you a pretty good idea of how
often you'll need to change the demineralization
cartridge. If you have hard water, simply soak, then
install the cartridge to help prevent mineral build up
or scale. If you use distilled water, you can use the
William without the cartridge. The only exception to
this is water that is already softened. While you can use it in this machine with the cartridge removed, you generally
want to avoid this, as the sodium in softened water can shorten the lifespan of the William's inner components.
A couple of the other features are also handy. The pre-warm
feature helps to kill some types of microbes, adding another layer of hygienic protection. An eight hour timer allows you to
set it and forget it, while a sleep mode can dim the display and reduce light that may bother you at night. At night, this is a great humidifier to use as it nearly silent,
emitting only a low hum that is quieter than a computer fan or a refrigerator.
What I do not like about the Stadler Form William Humidifier
I wish the warranty was more in line with some of the other Stadler Form/Swizz Style models - two years. Though, at one year, the William's warranty is on par with
most other ultrasonic humidifiers available today. My other negatives with this humidifier are the same ones I have with other ultrasonics. The pre-warm
feature should NOT be mistaken for what we traditionally think of, in terms of "warm mist". By the time the water exits, it's usually cooled to just a couple
degrees higher than your body temperature. Filling the tank isn't as easy as with a top-fill or evaporative model. I know it's a pretty minor inconvenience, but
it's one that many are familiar with.
Overall, the Stadler Form William humidifier is on par with some of the best ultrasonic humidifiers available. The features add value by William's ability to
humidify is top notch. The complaints I have with this model are generally the same I find with most ultrasonic humidifiers, so in that regard, it is similar to
comparable models. The design is nice, particularly if you're a fan of black/smoke with chrome accents. In all the William is a solidly built cool mist humidifier that should help make your home more comfortable in no time at all!
