    Description
The Ladybug 2200 is our standard residential steam cleaner unit system. It features Ladybug's signature compact design that makes the unit easy to carry up and down stairs and convenient to store. The steam pressure gauge helps you get the most out of your system by ensuring you have adequate boiler pressure and easy to read indicator lights let you know when the unit is ready to clean and when you need to refill.

The 2200 residential steam cleaner comes standard with the TANCS antimicrobial system and comes with an array of useful attachments.

With this continuous fill unit you never have to worry about running out of steam or purging the lines while you refill the water tank. And instead of harsh chemicals that can irritate your lungs, eyes and throat, you can get a healthier kind of clean all while using simple water and heat. Bacteria, viruses, germs and dust mites can all be reduced more effectively and safely with a Ladybug steam cleaner.

TANCS is an EPA registered and tested, antimicrobial system that destroys microorganisms without the use of toxic chemicals. This system uses naturally occurring minerals found in common tap water, heats them and then uses them to compromise bacteria, viruses and germs on a cellular level. By degrading the cell wall, the TANCS system more effectively allows steam to kill even heat resistant germs.

*With the TANCS feature, the system qualifies as a disinfection device for the US EPA. Additionally, TANCS extends the life of the entire system.

    Ladybug's TANCS Technology

Thermo Accelerated Nano Crystal Sanitation, or TANCS, is a patented technology found in some Ladybug steam cleaners. TANCS is the process that uses naturally occurring minerals found in tap water to form crystals that when heated, disrupts the cell membranes of microorganisms. Once the cell membranes have been disrupted, the over 230° F heat can quickly and effectively destroy germs quickly and without harmful germicides or toxic chemicals. While only found in Ladybug steam cleaners, this type of technology has been in use in commercial setting for years. TANCS is EPA approved as a disinfectant and lab certified. Below are some of the benefits of this technology versus traditional chemical cleaners.

    • Steam vapor reaches into microscopic pores where topical chemical applications and scrubbing would never reach.
    • Simplification of cleaning protocols--no disinfectant mixing, storage, disposal concerns, lengthy dwell time requirements, or confusing label directions.
    • TANCS can eliminate and control biofilms that resist typical disinfectants and bleach cleaners.
    • Reduced chemical exposure risks - you're using only tap water and heat!
    • This system won't oxidize metals or degrade grout or concrete like traditional cleaners.
    • Destruction of embedded bacteria and germs that cause lingering odor with traditional cleaning methods.
    • Minerals are utilized by TANCS instead of building up on internal components.
    • TANCS means no scaling of your system and helps to maintain the heating efficiency within the boiler while extending the life of the system.

    Ladybug 2200S Steam Cleaner Reviews
    Ladybug 2200 Vapor Steam Cleaner

Similar to the 2150, the Ladybug 2200 steam cleaner offers the same staple features common to Ladybug steam cleaners with a few notable upgrades over the introductory model. Lightweight and compact, the 2200 has an array of useful accessories and amazing cleaning and sanitizing versatility. And with this model, you can get more effective disinfecting power with the optional TANCS antimicrobial system. After shooting our images for the photo gallery this model was put through some in-home testing.

What I like about the Ladybug 2200

As a couple helpful tips before you steam... even though you are less likely to have condensed water in the lines of a Ladybug, you will still want to flush the system upon startup. This is because of the air in the boiler, and if you do not blow this out before you clean, you will have sputtering and uneven steam when you first begin to use it. Secondly, if you use a water softening system, use water that has NOT been run through a water softener. While mineral content is important, particularly with a TANCS equipped steam cleaner, water softening minerals can build up inside and damage your Ladybug. With that being said, full steam ahead!

Like all Ladybug steam cleaners, the 2200 relies more on heat than on the actual water. This leads to a "drier" steam. While no steam is truly "dry," the ratio of water in the vapor is lower. This leads to a much quicker drying time for the surfaces you are cleaning and while water alone won't kill much, by way of germs, when turned into high temperature steam, it becomes a safe and effective way to sanitize your home. Compared to a traditional mop or even products like Swiffers, the Ladybug steam cleaners usually leave the floors dry in less than a minute. On linoleum, the dry time less than 30 seconds. On a microfiber/microsuede couch the complete dry time took a while longer but it was difficult to tell since the fabric more readily retained the heat. Overall, this model left the surfaces and the home we tested smelling fresher and feeling cleaner.

Cleaning ability was far better than I expected. I have tested several cheaper steam cleaners but none are as versatile or offer as thorough of a job cleaning as the Ladybug. One thing that I found particularly useful on very dirty floors was to basically steam them twice. The first time I used the bristle brush and was able to loosen up dirt and other nastiness that tends to accumulate in corners and under the edge of the cabinetry. On the second pass I had the cloth wrapped over the head and was able to pick up the particles, debris and mess I had loosened up with the first pass.

The biggest difference between the Ladybug 2200 and the 2150 steam cleaner is the TANCS system. Steam can and will kill germs and bacteria, but the effectiveness is greatly increased when coupled with TANCS. And while I have yet to pull out my microscope and examine scraping from my floors, the fact that TANCS is EPA tested and certified as an effective antimicrobial system, provides a great deal of piece of mind. And when I was finished, I did notice a difference just in how the house smelled. I'm not saying it smelled bad before, but it wasn't the usual bleachy/Febreeze smell I usually have after cleaning with common household cleaners. The added benefit is that instead of using bleach or ammonia based chemicals, I can get a healthier kind of clean with a Ladybug 2200.

As a final note, for allergy sufferers, those with MCS or asthma, the Ladybug is a great additional to your cleaning regime. Not only will the hot steam vapor kill dust mites on contact, but by neutralizing bacteria, viruses and biofilms, you create a healthier home. And by cutting out, or at least using less, chemical based cleaners, you improve your indoor air quality by avoiding the off-gasses and residues those cleaners can leave behind.

What I do not like about the Ladybug 2200

As with any of the models in which TANCS is optional, I really wish it was a standard feature. While it does push the intial cost of the unit up, it pales when you compare it to the superior sanitizing capability you get with a TANCS equipped Ladybug. For those with allergies, asthma, MCS, or even those with compromised immune systems, the removal of pathogens, bacteria, viruses and other harmful microorganisms brings priceless relief.

A caddy or storage device for this model would have been particularly helpful, as some of the smaller attachment could likely be easily lost. Aside from this my only suggestion would be an LCD similar to that of the 2350. With the LCD screen you can see a real time reading of the temperature and boiler pressure.

There is very little not to like about the Ladybug 2200. This steam cleaner was extremely effective in the areas we tested, mainly the kitchen and bathroom. The 2200 left both smelling fresher and feeling cleaner, without the bleach. The run time, per tank of water, was much better than cheaper models, and the attachments were easy to use and effective. By keeping a few helpful hints in mind, you make the Ladybug 2200 steam cleaner a regular part of your cleaning regime and benefit from a healthier, chemical-free home.
