You can leave the bottom part under the mattress and wash the top part in cold water. Hang to dry if possible, or put it in the dryer on air dry with no heat. Then match up the zippers and zip it back up.

Are Tempur-Pedic® mattresses used in healthcare settings?

The TEMPUR® materials is commonly used in hospital beds, neonatal units, and nursing homes because of its unique pressure-relieving properties. Tempur-Pedic® mattresses are clinically effective at treating and preventing pressure ulcers.

What kind of warranty comes with a Tempur-Pedic® mattress?

All Tempur-Pedic® mattresses come with a 20-year limited warranty. Tempur-Pedic® Inc. guarantees that your Tempur-Pedic® Swedish Mattress™ will be replaced or repaired at the company's option, without cost to you, should it be deemed defective because of faulty workmanship or structural defects during the first ten (10) years of the warranty, excluding the specific limitations contained herein. It is understood that this limited warranty does not include a normal increase in softness of the TEMPUR® material or a decrease in the slow recovery feature - aspects which do not affect the pressure-relieving qualities of the foam. It does cover any deterioration in the cell-structure of the foam that causes the mattress to have a visible indentation greater than three-fourths (0.75) of an inch, not associated with a sag in the foundation, box springs, or platform. It also covers any physical flaw in the mattress that causes the foam to split or crack despite normal usage and proper handling. If such defects occur during the remaining ten (10) years of this limited warranty they will, at their option, repair the mattress at a handling cost to you, or replace the mattress at a prorated charge to you. During the first year of the prorated, 10-year period, the prorated replacement charge will be fifty (50) percent of the original purchase price. The prorated charge will increase by five (5) percent for each subsequent year of the prorated period. It is understood that the mattress Foundation is warranted against manufacturer defects and structural flaws under the same stipulations as above. The mattress cover is warranted for two (2) years against faults in material or workmanship. All warranties contained herein shall not apply if the mattress, foundation, or cover has been physically damaged, burned, cut, torn, or is abnormally soiled or unsanitary. This warranty is valid only to the original purchaser of the product. All transportation costs are the responsibility of the purchaser and are additional to any prorated charges. You must provide proof of purchase for any warranty claim. This limited warranty gives you specific legal rights and you may also have other rights that vary from state to state.

Why do tens of thousands of physicians all over the world recommend the Tempur-Pedic® Mattress?

The contour of the human body is not a straight line; it is curved. Normally, when viewing the body from the side, we see a standard transition of curves from the buttocks (spinal base), to the lumbar spine, on up through the thoracic curve (ribs/upper back), and finally to the neck. When viewed from the back, of course we see parts that stick out from the trunk of the body in the form of hips and shoulders. Sensibly, if we were to lay on our side on a very firm (unforgiving) surface, only the parts of the body that jut out (like our shoulders and hips) would be supported. Therefore, our trunk is literally forced into a bent position, putting undue stress on supportive ligaments, discs, and muscles. Additionally, excessive pressure will exist at the major points of contact causing sore shoulders and hips.

On the other hand, a mattress that is too soft will allow the heaviest parts of our body to seek a low point - with our trunk virtually suspended between the shoulders and the hips. This situation sends a signal to our brain telling our postural support muscles to contract in an effort to resist the sagging of the spine. This dangerous situation is called the "hammock effect," and most certainly interferes with our important restorative sleep phase. Remember, one-third of your life is spent in bed, and that time is for restoration and recuperation. Many people sleep without restoration and recuperation, and they consequently wake up tired and sore.

Do you have a have trial period, and what happens if I don't like this mattress?

Yes, we gladly offer a 90-day trial period. The trial period begins the first night you receive your mattress.

Because of its unique pressure-relieving properties, your Tempur-Pedic® Swedish Mattress™ may require a short adjustment period while your body grows accustomed to a new way of sleeping. We suggest that you sleep on the mattress for at least two weeks; thereafter, at any time during the trial period, if you are dissatisfied, we will arrange for you to return your mattress. You will be only be responsible for return shipping. Should you decide to return your mattress, your refund will be applied in the same form as the initial payment was received. The 90-day trial offer is available only on mattress purchases. Adjustable foundations/frames, pillows, cushions and accessories do not have a trial period and are non-returnable.

If you decide that this is not the right mattress for you, here’s what you need to do: Call us, email us, or visit us. You must inform us of your request to return your mattress. We will then contact the manufacturer with the request and they will arrange the pickup process. The pick-up process will take from 2-4 weeks. Keep your original box and plastic bag that came with the mattress when it was delivered at least until the time you make your final decision. When the carriers pick up your mattress, obtain a written receipt from them indicating that you are no longer in possession on the mattress. Once picked up from your home, it generally takes 2 weeks for us to receive written confirmation from the manufacturer's warehouse that the mattress was returned. Upon receipt of this written confirmation, we will promptly apply your refund. You will only be charged for shipping to return the mattress ($350 in the Lower 48 States). If you took advantage of our pillow offers with your mattress order, by law, we cannot accept returns on pillows. You will be charged the full price of the promotional pillows.

I already own a Tempur-Pedic® mattress and would like to register my warranty. How can I do that?

What does "viscoelastic" mean?

"Visco" means that the TEMPUR® material is resistant to change, and "elastic" refers to its ability to return to the original shape after a change has taken place. Many people refer to TEMPUR® material as "memory foam" because of its ability to return to its original shape. Imagine lying on a surface that knows exactly how far to let you sink in so that every contour of your body is supported. The surface then flows back to its original shape.
