Warm mist dehumidifiers work by heating water to the point of boiling then releasing it as a warm mist. Warm mist dehumidifiers
are well suited for steaming certain types of medications. In cooler regions, warm mist is more soothing and is the preferred choice
of humidifier.
In general, warm mist humidifiers are slightly more expensive than their cool mist humidifiers. Because of the heating element, there is often
an additional initial expense. This heating element may also cause the units to be marginally more expensive to operate. However, since warm
mist humidifiers often lack an internal fan, they are quieter than cool mist units. Because the water
is boiled in warm mist humidifiers, there is some risk for burns, particularly with small children. Regardless of which type of humidifier
you select, both will adequately deliver moisture, and most often, selection depends on what your physician recommends and/or personal
preference.
