- Making You Healthier and Happier Through Allergy Relief
The Personal Best Peak Flow Meter measures peak expiratory flow in order to monitor respiratory conditions such as asthma. Peak flow monitoring measures how quickly a patient can expel air from the lungs, and when done regularly, can help patients and doctors manage asthma. Personal Best can help you make informed decisions about medication and emergency care by enabling you to track and log respiration from day to day.
Contents include: one asthma meter unit, instructions for use, daily record chart, and companion card.
Also available in a Low Range model (50-390 L/min) for small children or those unable to achieve a high PEF (sold separately).
Personal Best® meters meet or exceed National Asthma Education and Prevention Program (NAEPP) Technical Standards for Peak Flow Meters, based on American Thoracic Society (ATS) Standardization of Spirometry, 1994 Update.

General
Please follow the manufacturer's instructions for cleaning the peak flow meter. Generally, the device should be cleaned at least every 2 weeks using warm water with a mild liquid soap, then rinsed and air dried. The device is dishwasher safe (top rack). Do not boil or autoclave.
Replace the peak flow meter every 2 years. For multi-patient use, replace more frequently.
Personal Best peak flow meters are designed and intended for single-patient use. The device may be used for multi-patient use so long as it is cleaned thoroughly after each use and disposable mouthpieces are used. To reduce the risk of cross-contamination during multi-patient screenings, it is recommended that one-way valve Safety disposable mouthpieces (Respironics Part # HS714¹) be used. The one-way valve prevents patients from inadvertently breathing in air through the meter during PEF testing.
¹ We apologize, but we do not carry this Respironics item.
