Each Santa Fe Compact70 dehumidifier (formerly the Compact2) comes standard with a MERV 8 and foam pre-filter that help to keep debris out of the motor and coils while improving air quality in the space where the dehumidifier operates. The Santa Fe Compact MERV 11 Annual Filter is an upgrade to the standard filter and provides you all the tools you need to keep your Compact running at its best, while improving air quality in the space. Included in each kit are four MERV 11 air filters as well as one pre-filter.
The pre-filter traps large, visible particles while the MERV 11 filters remove particles 1 micron and larger. This includes mold spores, pollen, dust, and even smaller particles not visible to the naked eye. Regular replacement of these filters is key to keeping the coils and motor in good working order. The pre-filter can be cleaned off (vacuumed) periodically while the MERV filters should be changed every 3-6 months depending on the specific conditions in your space.
