_Ebac desiccant dehumidifiers do not use a refrigerant to cool the air and condense the moisture for extraction. Instead the air passes over a slowly rotating wheel of silica gel that adsorbs (not absorbs) the moisture. The air, warmed, then leaves the unit, free of excess moisture.
As this wheel of silica and moisture continues to slowly rotate, a small portion of the wheel passes through a regeneration segment where extremely warm air is passed back through the gel and any moisture trapped inside is collected by this hot air and exhausted.
_Desiccant dehumidifiers do exceedingly well in low temperatures, in situations where the dew point is very low, or in instances where deep drying and extremely low humidity is required. Though simple, desiccant dehumidifiers are extremely effective in conditions where refrigerant style dehumidifiers will not operate or work.
