If you own a Miele vacuum cleaner, it’s not hard to forget that they do require some regular maintenance. With some of the longest lasting parts (belts, hoses, housing, and motor) around, “regular” maintenance is often less… regular than you might think. Still, replacing the filter annually, changing bags when full, and cleaning the brushroll are three things, and really, the only three things that you need to do to keep it running at its best. While we can’t help you with cleaning the brushroll (unless you’re local to the Atlanta area, in which case, stop by!), we can make replacing the filter and bags easier with the new Miele Vacuum Annual FilterBag Kits.

For each series of vacuum, you’ll have two options, either a HEPA maintenance kit or a Pet maintenance kit. Each HEPA kit includes two boxes of Miele 3D filterbags as well as one HEPA AirClean filter that fit that series. The Miele 3D AirClean bags and multi-ply bags that not only trap visible dirt and debris but also act as the first stages of Miele’s patented AirClean system, filtering out allergens and microparticles. Recently redesigned, these bags utilize more of their capacity while allowing for superior airflow. Each box of bags includes 4 filterbags as well as a pre-motor filter.

The HEPA AirClean filter is the core of Miele’s industry leading filtration, removing 99.95% of particles as small as 0.1 microns. That includes pollen, dander, dust, and mold spores. Each filter now has a Timestrip indicator that let’s you know exactly when the filter needs to be replaced as well as a rubber seal to prevent air leakage. These components, combined with Miele’s Sealed System, create the most hygienic vacuum on the market. What does that mean for you? A vacuum that cleans not only your floors but one that actually improves the air quality in your home.

The Pet kits are slightly different. Those with pets in the home, particularly dogs or cats, generally fill bags quicker due to pet hair. They also tend to vacuum more frequently, so for convenience we’ve included three boxes. Aside from the extra box of bags, Pet kits include an Active AirClean filter instead of HEPA.

The Active AirClean filter is a dual filter, featuring both HEPA-style filter media for particles and allergens as well as granular activated carbon for odors. The “AirClean” layer of the filter removes 94% of all particle 0.3 microns or smaller and 99.5% of all particles 0.5 microns or larger. Then the “Active” carbon portion of the filter adsorbs pet odors that can be a challenge around the house.

Currently, we’ve rolled out annual maintenance kits for all premium Miele canister vacuums (Dynamic C3, S8000, and S5000 series vacuums) as well as Miele uprights (Dynamic U1 and S7000 series vacuums), but expect to see annual kits for C2, C1, S4000, and S2000 vacuums in the coming days.
