The Air-O-Swiss 7144 Ultrasonic humidifier showcases some of the finest features and most efficient humidifying found in only the best
humidifiers available today. From a robust moisture output and stylish design to intuitive controls and hygienic operation, the 7144 is a durable home
humidifier, more than capable of providing relief from dry air anywhere in your home. When taking a closer look at this humidifier, it is not
difficult to see why it remains a popular choice for those dealing with the negative effects of dry indoor air, year in and year out.
What I like about the Air-O-Swiss 7144 Ultrasonic Humidifier
In terms of performance, the AOS 7144 can put up to three and a half gallons of moisture back into your indoor air. This is key during
the drier fall and winter months when low humidity can cause coughing at night, dry or cracked sinuses, an increase in airborne dust, and
even damage to wood furniture and trim. While high humidity can cause mold growth, very low indoor humidity is uncomfortable. Putting
much needed moisture back into the air can help your skin, sinuses and lips, and the 7144 is an easy way to deliver moisture, quickly.
No one wants to spend valuable time trying to figure out a home appliance. We want it to work, work quickly and work well, and the
AIROSWISS 7144 humidifier does just that. Soak the cartridge, fill the tank and away you go. The easy-to-use control panel lets you set
your desired humidity and will display the current humidity level. The LCD display is easy to read and gives you a quick rundown of
of the status of the humidifier with just a glance. From the control panel you can turn the unit on/off, select your humidity level and mist output,
set the timer, choose between warm mist and cool mist, set sleep or auto modes, and determine when the tank is empty or when the humidifier needs to be cleaned.
What's worse than spending time trying to figure out how to use your humidifier? Cleaning it. Thankfully, the 7144 builds in a variety of
features to not only cut down on cleaning but also keep the moisture that you're putting back into your indoor air, clean. The process starts in the
water tank. A disc of activated carbon, the Hydro Cell, adsorbs chemicals and other impurities that may be in the water. Next, a demineralization
cartridge removes hard water minerals. This helps to not only avoid the problem of white mineral dust that plagues other ultrasonic humidifier
brands but because the cartridge itself has ionic silver embedding in the housing, the cartridge also acts as an antimicrobial agent. Lastly,
ultrasonic vibrations literally destroy the cell walls of any remaining microbes, killing them. All of these add up to a cleaner system, and aside from
replacing the cartridge and Hydro Cell as needed, there's less cleaning because there's less mineral scale buildup.
The dual warm/cool mist capability is an advantage over other humidifiers. While the warm mist only means that the water is preheated, it is
enough that when the mist comes out, it won't effect the overall temperature of the room. The choice between cool mist or warm mist
dehumidification varies primarily upon what your physician has recommended
or is simply a matter of personal preference. Regardless of what type of mist you select from this humidifier, you will see immediate
results in the comfort level of the room.
Lastly, the Air-O-Swiss 7144 humidifier has a unique look. With a stainless steel-style finish and sleek design, the 7144 has a very
modern feel to it. In addition to its unique appearance, it is also extremely quiet and won't disturb even the lightest of sleepers.
What I do not like about the Air-O-Swiss 7144 Ultrasonic Humidifier
My only real drawback with this humidifier is a minor one. I still wish the tank held more water! That would mean fewer fill ups for me, particularly since
the space in which I use it is EXTREMELY dry during the winter. Still, filling it once in the morning and once in the evening isn't a terribly difficult
task, and with a larger tank it would be that much heavier to lug around.
Don't use softened water. I saw this mainly as a warning because the sodium in softened water can degrade the diaphragm and cause
premature wear. If you do have softened water in your home, use distilled in your humidifier. While paying for distilled water may seem like
an extra expense, the good news is you won't have to worry about replacing the demineralization cartridge since there will be no minerals to
remove. You can, however, leave it in the humidifier to continue to reap the benefits of ionic silver, but it's likely unnecessary.
Overall, the Air-O-Swiss 7144 humidifier is a great fit for nearly any home. It provides a wide range of features while
delivering solid humidifying performance. Most AIROSWISS humidifiers are designed to provide years of consistent use, and the
7144 is no exception. The design will fit nearly any decor and the results will bring relief to even the worst conditions.
