control of your humidifier. This unit has a hygrostat to program the desired humidity level from 30% to 70%. The hygrometer will
give you a reading of the relative humidity in a room even when the unit is not operating. You will receive three maintenance
messages on your digital screen--a reminder to change your Ionic Silver Stick once per year, to clean the unit on
a regular basis, and to add water when the tank is empty. The AOS 2055D has an auto OFF feature for when the
water tank is empty.
What I like about the Air-O-Swiss 2055 Air Washer
The best quality of this humidifier is how easy it is to clean and operate. There are no replacement filters or
evaporator mats needed. The water tank is transparent and easy to remove. The discs are dishwasher safe and the inside of the unit
is very easy to clean. Regardless of whether you choose the digital or manual version of this unit, both are very simple to control.
One other interesting feature of this unit is that you are able to place a piece of cotton sprinkled with a fragrance or
essential oil in the purple fragrance container to humidify and scent the air at the same time.
Both of these humidifiers use an Ionic Silver Stick that prevents microbial growth in the tank's water. There is no need to
add chemicals to improve water quality. This accessory for the humidifier only needs to be replaced once a year.
The AOS 2055D is the digital version of this humidifier. I really liked the extra added features of this humidifier and they are
worth the additional cost if you want more control over your environment. You have an auto shut-off feature, and you can program the
humidifier to reach a desired humidity level. I also like its design and the way the unit looks a little bit better
than the manual version.
Lastly, there are no demineralization cartridges to replace. Because both of these operate on the principle of evaporation, mineral
content in the water simply settles in the tank itself. This turns the cost of replacing or refilling cartridges into simply wiping the
bottom of the reservoir out with a damp cloth.
What I do not like about the Air-O-Swiss 2055 Air Washer
Unlike other Air-O-Swiss humidifiers, one thing I did not like about the AOS 2055 was that you cannot
quickly glance and check the water level. This underscores the importance of the empty tank indicator, though even if the unit is
out of water, running dry will not severely damage the 2055 or 2055D.
