The Facts on Dust Mites
Fact #1: They are in your bedding
Dust mites are a relatively common allergen. Unfortunately, your bedding
is probably one of their favorite places to be! They love burrowing into
the warm fabric of your bed, where they can escape the light and feast
on the dead skin cells that our bodies constantly shed. Depending on its
age, your mattress may contain between one and ten million dust mites.
The waste, feces, and body fragments of dead dust mites are what cause
allergy symptoms.
Fact #2: They can be controlled
The good news is that by controlling the dust mite allergens in your
bedding, you can help to alleviate your allergy symptoms. We recommend
you take the following steps:
- Encase mattress and pillow in dust mite proof encasings to form a
barrier between you and the dust mite allergens.
It is especially important to note pore size on mattress and pillow
encasings. Our AllerSoft membrane-free fabric has a pore size of less
than 4 microns – woven so tightly that no allergens can penetrate.
Unlike dust mite bedding with larger pores, our Allersoft encasings also
block out animal dander.
- Wash all bedding used on top of your encasings frequently in hot water
(140'). Encasings should be washed 2 to 4 times per year.
Unfortunately, most washing machines do not get this hot, for safety
reasons. However, achoo! ALLERGY & AIR Products, Inc. offers a dust mite
controlled laundry wash and laundry additive that can be used in any
water temperature and that effectively kills dust mites.
- Use dust mite controlled laundry detergent and laundry additives if
hot water washing is not possible.
- Vacuum your mattress before putting on your encasing with a HEPA
filtered vacuum.
Fact #3: Achoo! Allergy can help
- Achoo! Allergy provides the highest quality products at great prices.
Our AllerSoft membrane-free fabric for dust mite bedding is the most
effective dust mite barrier on the market. The Clean Air membrane
encasing also offers excellent dust mite protection and is water-proof.
- Achoo! Allergy offers a 30-day money back guarantee on all bedding
products. Compare this to some competitors, who do not allow returns if
the package has been opened or charge a re-stocking fee.
- We offer FREE SHIPPING on orders over $150.00 in the continental
United States.
- You can easily order online or by phone, 24/7.
