How to Select Your Dyson Vacuum Cleaner

Before pointing out the differences, let's look at the features that all Dyson upright vacuums have in common:

British Allergy Foundation Seal
  • Root Cyclone Technology - Never loses suction.
  • Lifetime HEPA Filter - Never has to be replaced.
  • Clear Dust Bin - No bags to replace.
  • Approved for Allergy Sufferers - All Dyson vacuums display the British Allergy Foundation Seal of Approval.
  • Standard Accessories - Stair tool, large brush, and crevice tool.
  • 5 Year Warranty - All Dyson vacuums come with a manufacturer's warranty.

Dyson Animal vs. All Floors / Multi Floors Vacuums - The only difference between the All Floors/Multi Floors model and the Animal model in a given series is that the Animal model comes with three additional accessories: the mini turbine tool, the floor tool, and the carpet cleaning kit. These accessories may be purchased separately for any model; however, when you purchase them together with an Animal model, you save quite a bit of money.

Dyson DC24 MultiFloors - At about 11 pounds, the Dyson DC24 All Floors is lightweight and small, perfect for those who live in smaller spaces. It features Dyson Ball technology for maximum maneuverability and Root Cyclone technology that never loses suction. As its name implies, it's great for use on all floor types.

Dyson DC24 Animal - At about 12 pounds, the Dyson DC24 Animal is the newest Dyson upright vacuum cleaner. Lightweight but powerful, this Dyson Animal vacuum comes standard with a mini turbo brush and a washable HEPA filter. Perfect for pet owners who live in apartments or great for use as a second vacuum, the DC24 is simply a smaller version of the full size DC25 Animal that has become so popular in homes across the nation.

Dyson DC40 Multi Floors - Vacuum around furniture with a turn of the wrist and remove dust from all those tricky places. The Dyson DC40 Multi Floor features Dyson's signature Dyson Ball technology and improved Radial Root Cyclone technology, and is made for use on all floor types.

Dyson DC28 Animal (AirMuscle) - This vacuum is the ultimate carpet cleaning machine, and while it may lack the Ball technology, the Dyson DC28 Animal has a couple key features that make it the ideal vacuum for tackling the toughest cleaning jobs. Included attachments, a pneumatic actuator and powered cam work to offer a deep clean across all surfaces.

Dyson DC33 Multi Floors - As an updated introductory model, the DC33 Multi Floors is a bagless vacuum cleaner with the core Dyson features, like cyclonic suction, quick-draw wand, and a washable HEPA filter. Economically priced, the DC33 is perfect for someone who wants a powerful Dyson upright vacuum cleaner without great expense.

Dyson DC41 Animal - As the latest version of the Dyson Ball vacuum cleaner, the Dyson DC41 Animal features noticeable style and performance improvements to give you a a better cleaning experience. Dyson made the DC41 their most powerful vacuum by updating the design of their patented Root Cyclone system.

Dyson DC35 Digital Slim - This vacuum cleaner is one of the most powerful cordless vacuums on the market. It is powered by the Dyson digital motor. The detachable long-reach wand cleans up high, down low and in tight gaps. Dual power mode gives you 15 minutes constant high suction or 6 minutes on MAX power for tougher cleaning jobs. The unique cleaner head stays flat to the floor when you pull back or when the machine is fully reclined.

Dyson Vacuums & Allergy Relief

Dyson Asthma Friendly CertificateAll Dyson vacuum cleaners come with a High Efficiency Particulate Air (HEPA) filter that's guaranteed to capture 99.97% of all allergens 0.3 microns or smaller. Most household allergens measure between one and 10 microns in size; therefore, the HEPA filter traps virtually all household allergens.

Dyson vacuums display the British Allergy Foundation Seal of Approval. After scientific testing, this endorsement is given to products that restrict or remove high levels of allergens from the environment of allergy sufferers.

Additionally, with the exception of the handheld model, each Dyson vacuum cleaner we sell received "asthma friendly" certification from the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America (AAFA). The AAFA, the leading non-profit patient organization for people with allergies and asthma, rigorously tested these Dyson vacuums and found them to be suitable for people with asthma and related allergies.

*Please note that since the removal of the dust bin allows allergens to escape into the surrounding air, we recommend that you always empty the dust bin outdoors. If you suffer from allergies or asthma, ask someone else to empty the dust for you, or wear an allergy mask for the task.

Dyson Company Information & History

James Dyson"I just think things should work properly," says British engineer James Dyson. And that's why he set out to build a vacuum cleaner that doesn't lose suction.

With an educational background in art and engineering, Dyson started inventing new products in the early 1970s. One of his first inventions was the Ballbarrow, a wheelbarrow mounted on a spherical ball instead of a wheel for better stability and easier steering.

In the late 1970s, frustrated with the clogged bag in his vacuum cleaner, Dyson began studying cyclonic separation as a possible method of vacuuming. After five years and over 5,000 prototypes, Dyson gave the world its first bag less, cyclonic vacuum cleaner in 1983: the G-Force, which originally sold in Japan.

In 1993, after failing to convince other vacuum cleaner companies to license his technology, Dyson started his own manufacturing company. Dyson vacuum cleaners now represent one of the most popular brands in the world. Working with his research team, James Dyson has developed products that have achieved sales of over $10 billion worldwide. Dyson continues to develop ideas for new products. In 2006, he launched the Dyson Airblade, an energy-efficient, hygienic hand dryer that works twice as fast as conventional hand dryers.
