Dyson Animal vs. All Floors Vacuums - The only difference between the All Floors model and the Animal model in a given series is that the Animal model comes with three additional accessories: the mini turbine tool, the floor tool, and the carpet cleaning kit. These accessories may be purchased separately for any model; however, when you purchase them together with an Animal model, you save quite a bit of money.

Dyson DC07 Series - The DC07 series was the first available in the United States. Dyson DC07 vacuum cleaners feature the strongest suction power of all models because of their narrow channel; however, the narrow channel means that the DC07 vacuum cannot pick up larger items. (Other Dyson upright models feature wider cleaning channels.) DC07 models have reversible wands rather than telescopic wands, so you probably don't want a DC07 if you plan to use the wand often, as the reversible wand is more time-consuming to operate. Choose between the Dyson DC07 All Floors Vacuum or the Dyson DC07 Animal Vacuum.

Dyson DC14 Series - Vacuums in the DC14 series feature a wider cleaning path, a telescopic wand, and a curved crevice tool. Choose between the Dyson DC14 All Floors Vacuum or the Dyson DC14 Animal Vacuum.

Dyson DC17 Series - The aggressive brush roll in the Dyson DC17 Animal Vacuum is not only motorized, but it also features stiffer bristles for deep cleaning of carpets. (Don't use the DC17 on smooth floors that may get scratched!) While all Dyson vacuum cleaners have HEPA filters, the DC17 Animal features an additional cyclonic stage to further clean the air you breathe. The Dyson DC17 Asthma & Allergy is made specifically for allergy and asthma sufferers. Level 3 Root Cyclone™ Technology assures that allergens are vacuumed up, and a lifetime HEPA filter traps them. The DC17 Asthma & Allergy also comes with a mattress tool, soft dusting brush, and a flexi-crevice tool to maximize the removal of dust.

Dyson DC18 Slim Vacuum - The Dyson DC18 Slim Vacuum weighs in at only 15 pounds (whereas the other Dyson uprights weigh around 20 pounds). The DC18 features a motorized brush roll and a central pivot point (similar to The Ball™ technology) that allows for effortless cleaning and ensures constant contact with the floor, even during turns. Note that the dust bin is a bit smaller on the DC18, so you have to empty it more frequently.

Dyson DC21 Stowaway Canister Vacuum - If you prefer canister vacuum cleaners, then your choice is easy: The Dyson DC21 Stowaway Canister Vacuum is the only canister model from Dyson, and thus, it's the only canister vacuum cleaner that doesn't lose suction. The hose and wand wrap around the compact canister for easy, convenient storage.

Dyson DC24 The Ball™ All Floors - At about 11 pounds, the Dyson DC24 All Floors is lightweight and small, perfect for those who live in smaller spaces. It features Dyson Ball™ technology for maximum maneuverability and Root Cyclone™ technology that never loses suction. As its name implies, it's great for use on all floor types.

Dyson DC25 The Ball™ All Floors - Vacuum around furniture with a turn of the wrist and remove dust from all those tricky places. The Dyson DC25 All Floors features Dyson's signature Dyson Ball™ technology and Root Cyclone™ technology, and is made for use on all floor types. They Dyson DC25 is essentially a larger version of the DC24.

All Dyson vacuum cleaners come with a High Efficiency Particulate Air (HEPA) filter that's guaranteed to capture 99.97% of all allergens 0.3 microns or smaller. Most household allergens measure between one and 10 microns in size; therefore, the HEPA filter traps virtually all household allergens.

All Dyson vacuums display the British Allergy Foundation Seal of Approval. After scientific testing, this endorsement is given to products that restrict or remove high levels of allergens from the environment of allergy sufferers.

"I just think things should work properly," says British engineer James Dyson.

And that's why he set out to build a vacuum cleaner that doesn't lose suction.

With an educational background in art and engineering, Dyson started inventing new products in the early 1970s. One of his first inventions was the Ballbarrow, a wheelbarrow mounted on a spherical ball instead of a wheel (for better stability and easier steering). While the Ballbarrow is no longer manufactured, you can see its legacy in the Dyson DC15 Ball vacuum cleaners.

In the late 1970s, frustrated with the clogged bag in his vacuum cleaner, Dyson began studying cyclonic separation as a possible method of vacuuming. After five years and over 5,000 prototypes, Dyson gave the world its first bagless, cyclonic vacuum cleaner in 1983: the G-Force, which originally sold in Japan.

In 1993, after failing to convince other vacuum cleaner companies to license his technology, Dyson started his own manufacturing company. Dyson vacuum cleaners now represent one of the most popular brands in the world. Working with his research team, James Dyson has developed products that have achieved sales of over $10 billion worldwide.

Dyson continues to develop ideas for new products. In 2006, he launched the Dyson Airblade, an energy-efficient, hygienic hand dryer that works twice as fast as conventional hand dryers.
