Sunpentown WA-1010M Portable Air Conditioner
A portable air conditioner is a perfect solution for a person that has a cooling application, but cannot use a window
air conditioner. It is great for a garages, sunrooms, basements attics, etc. You are able to funnel the exhaust through
a window or a hole cut into the wall.
Before setting up this portable air conditioner, I recommend reading the instruction manual from cover to cover. All
of these units require set up time; however, if you take a few minutes to read the instructions beforehand the set up
is surprisingly quick and easy.
What I liked about the Sunpentown WA-1010M
The best part about this unit was how cool the air was coming out of the unit. It was not very loud, but you could
feel the cold air flowing at a distance up to about 15 feet. There were two fan speeds, but not a noticeable
difference in air flow.
The M in the name of this unit means that there are manual controls. The control system is better than I have seen
on some other brands.
The exhaust hose was easy to work with and set up. I would recommend looking at where you want to place the unit before
extending the hose to its full length. You could damage the hose if you are not careful.
What I did not like about the Sunpentown WA-1010M
One thing I do not really like about this unit is the foam window kit. It is easy to set up and work with the foam,
but the foam is not very strong. I was worried a strong wind or rain might ruin the set up and the foam itself.
Draining the water from the unit is not difficult, but the Sunpentown does not have a bucket that is accessible.
This makes drainage inconvenient and possibly messy. You have to pull the plug from the back of the unit and drain
it with a length of hose. You can set up a continuous gravity drain. You must drain the unit before moving it.
Overall, I really liked this unit. You can really feel the cooling power in the air the machine generates. It cooled
off the single room I was in a matter of 30 minutes or so. There are a couple of minuses, but the positives outweigh
the negatives by far.
