 Finally something a little lighter...

We've had an AllerAir in our home for over five years now and always been pleased with how well it works for us. So, when I had to start traveling more for work I decided to try one of AllerAirs "portable" models. I bought the regular Air Tube and actually had a hard, plastic case made for it so I wouldn't have to worry about it getting dented when I flew with it. It is probably a little heavier than I would have liked, but I didn't really expect otherwise since I know our home air purifier is very heavy. In any event, it works great, gives me the same great results as the 5000 we have at home. Great product, though heavier and a little more expensive than other portable units.

AllerAir Air Tube Air Purifiers
With the Air Tubes, AllerAir has attempted to pack its traditional carbon heavy filtration into a small, portable purifier. Though these units may seem to be priced somewhat higher than units that cover the same square footage, the Air Tube series provides the same filtration that multiple chemical sensitivity, asthma and allergy sufferers have come to expect from AllerAir.
What I liked about the Air Tube
Unlike the rest of the lerAir models the Air Tubes are more compact and much lighter. Although they lack casters, they are light enough to be easily moved from the car to hotel room or office with ease. The heaviest in this line (Air Tube Supreme Exec) weighs in around 22lbs., and the lightest (Air Tube Jr.) is a very manageable 14lbs.
For the sake of portability you won’t find the Air Tubes packing around 20+lbs. of carbon, but you will find significantly more air filtration media than used in comparable models. The Air Tubes carry 4 (Air Tube Jr.), 7 (Air Tube), or 10lbs. (Air Tube Supreme) of Mac-B™ activated carbon. The Air Tube and Supreme are also available in VOCARB (which offers VOC focusesd filtration).
All three models also come equipped with a HEPA grade particle filter and pre-filter to trap larger particles. This set of filters with the activated carbon work together to provide the same filtration you would expect from a larger AllerAir model but in smaller, lighter package.
As is standard with AllerAir, the housing is a fully coated, all steel frame.
What I did not like about the Air Tube
The controls are manual, as is the case with allerAir products.

These units only come with a one year warranty.
The AllerAir Air Tube series ultimately delivers compact filtration that you can use nearly anywhere - from the dorm room to the hotel room. Though a little higher on price, they are constructed to last and provide better filtration for the more sensitive customer. The Air Tubes are ideal for the moderately to severely allergic who needs portable filtration without comprising efficiency.
