Dear Allergy and Asthma Sufferers,

Did you remember to change your furnace filters last month? Keep in mind, it is very important not only for your health but also for your HVAC system.

This month we focus on preparing for colder weather in the winter months that lie ahead. Maintaining the correct humidity in your home is vital. Our home has gas heat which drives the relative humidity down to desert like conditions. We monitor the relative humidity with humidity gauges, and we've noted readings in the low teens. Because of this, our skin feels dryer and our nasal membranes dry out, which can lead to inflammation and susceptibility to a variety of respiratory problems. Fortunately, there is an easy solution. We use portable humidifiers in all of our bedrooms to keep the humidity at healthy levels.
