Allergy Consumer Report - Allergy Relief Tips and Discounts
Letter From The Editor
Dear Fellow Allergy Sufferers,

I am always working to keep my home as healthy as possible and I try to do what works for my family. I love the idea of using lemon juice and baking soda to clean my house but find that I do not always have the time or energy to figure out how to use these items. I purchase all natural cleaning products knowing that they minimally impact the environment and my family’s health. They are also quick and easy.

BPA is especially concerning to me because I do not want my children exposed. I purchased BPA-free water bottles and a water filter for our kitchen faucet. I still use plastic to store food, but use glass containers to microwave food in as the chemicals in plastic can leach into the food when heated.

I try to find ways to keep my family healthy and still maintain my sanity-luckily I have access to great information and products at to help me!

Breathe Better,

P. Cade McDonald

Green Spring Cleaning
As temperatures creep upwards and sunlight streams through newly re-opened windows, we all begin to sense the need for that yearly ritual: spring cleaning. Allergy sufferers and non-allergy sufferers alike benefit from chemical-free cleaning, but sometimes the thought of changing your entire cleaning routine is more daunting than spring cleaning itself!

BPA, Allergies, and Asthma
Over the last few years, the presence of bisophenol A (BPA) has been scrutinized and brought to the public's attention. The existence of this substance is found in a myriad of commonly used products and have been linked to health issues. One outcome of prolonged exposure that continues to be explored is the link between BPA exposure and allergies and asthma.

Excellent Air Purifier - Austin Air Allergy Machine HEGA Air Purifier

5 Stars - I purchased this air purifier to replace several smaller units on the main floor of my home. The air quality in my home was pretty good before but this unit has made a remarkable difference. The unit is in my living room/dining room area which is a 525 square-foot area and has no trouble keeping up on the middle speed. The unit is a bit loud on the high setting, but if I feel the need for extra air cleaning power I can run it on high while I'm at work and switch it back to a lower speed when I get home. I had hoped that this unit would improve the air throughout my first floor, not just in the room where it resides. It absolutely has done that. I have four cats and a dog, but you don't smell them when you walk in my house. My father, who is very allergic to cats, has no problem visiting my house now. He can be there for hours and not get sick. If you're reluctant to spend so much money on an air purifier, I would encourage you to give this a try. Instead of running three different air cleaners on my main floor, I now only have to run this one unit. Replacing filters every three months in three separate units is not cheap! I have no idea if the filter in this unit will last 5 years or if it will need to be replaced after 3 as some people do. Either way, I'll have recouped the money I spent on this unit by then due to lower maintenance and electrical costs. Plus, my air is cleaner. It's a win-win situation.
