Allergy Consumer Report - Allergy Relief Tips and Discounts
Letter From The Editor
Dear Fellow Allergy Sufferers,

We're excited this month to launch our portable air conditioner offering. As always, we've performed extensive research and conducted our own personal testing so that we know without a doubt that we're offering you products we'd choose to use for ourselves and our families.

Our office here in Atlanta is in a renovated warehouse, and the space we have to work in is quite unique. Mostly, we all work in a big, open room, although some of us work in loft-like rooms above. With concrete floors and minimal "extras," we enjoy a relatively allergy friendly work environment.

One thing we struggle with, though, is keeping the office comfortable temperature-wise. Because of the size and openness of our workspace, it's a challenge – and a considerable cost – to keep the building warm in winter and cool in the summer. While central air largely takes care of keeping us cool, one place it doesn’t reach is our server room. In this space we use the Royal Sovereign ARP-1400WW. With it’s BTU rating, it is capable of countering the heat generated by a room full of computer equipment.

But portable air conditioners aren't just about keeping cool; this month's articles discuss how portable air conditioners can help with allergies as well – and that's a combination we can all use!

Stay Cool and Breathe Better,

P. Cade McDonald

Portable Air Conditioners Help Control Allergies
Portable air conditioners not only help keep you cool during hot summer months, but they also help allergy sufferers keep their allergies under control by regulating indoor temperatures and humidity levels. Dust mites and mold spores are two of the most potent and prevalent allergens. These two menaces which can aggravate both allergy and asthma symptoms are particularly affected by fluctuations in temperature and humidity.

5 Things to Consider When Buying a Portable Air Conditioner
When answering this question, you first need to consider how big the space is that you need to cool. Check the square footage of your space. Next, look at the BTUs (British Thermal Units) of the unit which tells you how much cooling energy the unit will provide. Though at first it may seem like the more power, the better, you shouldn't just automatically buy the unit with the most BTUs since larger units do consume more power.

Installing Your Portable Air Conditioner is Easy!
Some homes and apartments are not equipped with central air conditioners and installing a central air unit is to costly for some home owners. Portable air conditioners are an ideal alternative if you find yourself in one of these situations.

Powerful Machine - Miele Delphi S2120 Canister Vacuum Cleaner

Our 10 year old Oreck XL quit and I really wasn't too happy with it for a while. I was going to buy a Dyson, but did some research and discovered that a lot of people claim they break easily and are very expensive to repair. After a lot of research, I decided that Miele seemed to have one of the best reputations for their products. I decided on the S2 Delphi since it has the same motor as the much more expensive models, has the ergonomic handle, and I really don't need the HEPA filter -- although it is nice to know I can add it in the future if I want. Our floors are mostly carpet, so I also needed the power floor brush which comes standard with the Delphi. We've had the Delphi S2 for about 2 weeks now. It is the most powerful vacuum cleaner I have ever used. I can actually feel it pulling very hard on the carpet as I'm cleaning. I have never had a vacuum that I pulled so strongly. Our old Oreck was easier to push around the floor, but that was because it didn't have this kind of powerful suction. It really helps make the nap of the carpet look new again. Since it has the ability to control the amount of suction, a frail person that might find the full suction is too much could dial it down to a lower level. I haven't used the other tools yet, just the power floor brush. Achoo Allergy shipped promptly and called me to verify the shipping address. No problems at all. Thank you! I look forward to having this machine for a very very long time. A New Miele Convert!
