The Blueair 650E Digital air purifier is a great air cleaning system for people living with allergies, asthma, or other respiratory conditions. Offering the same performance as the standard 601 unit, the Blueair 650E comes equipped with all electronic features instead of the traditional manual controls. A digital display gives the user instant feedback about particle detection, air purifier speed, and timer operation. Additionally, a user-friendly remote control makes operating the unit a breeze.

What I like:
One of the best attributes of the Blueair 650E Digital is that the air purifier draws dirty air in from the bottom and sides of the unit. The 650E gently diffuses the air through three different particle filters on the sides and top of the unit (see picture above). This helps prevent a drafty condition often found in purifiers with a single exhaust vent. Secondly, the unit blends into the environment of your home. The 650E is stylish, unobtrusive, and quiet even on the highest setting. Lastly, the unit’s steel housing is durable and easy to maintain. To clean, simply wipe the steel exterior.

Although the unit has an electronic display, the 650E Digital is simple to operate. One push of a button is all you have to do to start enjoying cleaner air. What I do not like:
The digital display is very helpful and user friendly, but it may be difficult to navigate for the technically challenged.

The Blueair 650E Digital does not come with a pre-filter. That means the HEPA filter tends to clog more quickly and has to be replaced every 6 months. This is more frequent than comparable manufacturers. Lastly, this unit offers very little in the way of odor or VOC removal. Although there is a SmokeStop filter to remedy this weakness, buying the filter is an additional expense.

In summary, the Blueair 650E Digital is one of our best air purifiers, it provides several air changes an hour in a very large space. It is a dependable and quiet, with an effective room cleaning capacity of 620 square feet; however, there is an added cost for a smokestop filter if you need smoke or odor filtration.
