HEPASilent™ Filtration:

Blueair's HEPASilent™ Filter & Dual Protection Filter material consists of millions of fibers layered together to create a pleated formation. This HEPA material traps 99.97% of airborne particulates, including pollen, dust, mold, dander, allergens, viruses, and bacteria down to 2.5 microns. With the Dual Protection Filter, another filter material layer is added. This layer is made from naturally sourced coconut shell-activated carbon pellets. The Classic 480i uses both electrostatic and mechanical HEPASilent™ Filtration. An ionizer negatively charges incoming particles (allergens such as pollen, mold, dust, and dander) so that they are forcibly drawn into the positively charged HEPASilent™ Filter. Specifically, because these negatively charged particles are attracted to the positively charged filter, they are effectively trapped there. Overall, combining these two filtration types enables the 480i to filter more particles, be more energy-efficient, and operate more quietly with faster airflow rates.

Changing Your Filter inside the Classic 480i is simple. The back panel easily opens up where you can slide the old filter right out and replace it with new. Be sure that the filter is facing the right way for optimal performance. The Classic 480i's filter should be changed every 6-months depending on use or when the filter timer light glows red.
