Our second one Reviewed by: Kelly M. from Sanford, NC My husband and I have had our 402 for a couple years and have always been pleased with the results. Recently we have moved and were looking to purchase another unit to fit our larger home. Instead of going with the same 402 we decided to pay a little extra for the 450E. While the results are the same, it's convenient to have the remote as well as the filter change indicator. Plus, the same filters fit each. This unit went in the living room and has been exactly what we were hoping for when we purchased it. While the 402 was retired to our bedroom, we are happy with both units.

Be it that there's no smoking in our house, but several of my friends do, her only condition was that I had to get an air purifier for down there. We had previously purchased the 250E for our bedroom, and based on how it has worked for us, I wanted to stick with something similar if not a little larger. Though we haven't had it down there long, the 450E has given use the same great results as the 250 model. It's so quiet that we don't notice it running except for the fact that it does a great job filtering out the cigar smoke after an evening of darts, pool or watching the Steelers win. I give it two thumbs up!

What I like:
One of the best attributes of the Blueair 450E Digital is that the unit blends into the environment of your home. The unit is stylish, unobtrusive, and quiet even on the highest setting. The award-winning design is sleek. The Blueair steel housing is durable and easy to maintain. To clean, simply wipe the steel exterior. The 450E draws dirty air in from the back of the unit, then gently diffuses air through an area six times greater than the average air cleaner.

Although the unit has an electronic display, the 450E Digital is simple to operate. One push of a button is all you have to do to start enjoying cleaner air. Select the speed setting, and forget about it! When the filter needs to be replaced (every six months), open the lid, pull the old filter out, and drop in the new filter. No screws and no tools are required.

What I do not like:
The Blueair 450E Digital does not have wheels, so you cannot easily move it around a room or from room to room in your home. Secondly, there is no pre-filter. That means the HEPA filter tends to clog more quickly has to be replaced every 6 months. This is more frequent than comparable manufacturers. Lastly, this unit offers very little in the way of odor or VOC removal. Although there is a SmokeStop filter to remedy this weakness, buying the filter is an additional expense.

In summary, the Blueair 450E Digital is one of our best air purifiers. If you are looking for a worthy soldier in the war against allergens and dust, look no further than the Blueair 450E. You will not be disappointed in this efficient and stylish unit.
