It contains both non-soap and soap surfactants, including sodium lauroyl sarcosinate, sodium lauroamphoacetate, and sodium laurate. Each of these surfactants is considered amphiphilic, which means the molecules are both water and fat-loving, helping them clean the same as traditional soap. Its non-irritating, pH-balanced formulation is unlike traditional soaps, which are often high in pH and can irritate skin.
