This is a wonderful machine, it is a pleasure to use it, I do wish it came with a brush that I can use on my hard floors, I see that more expensive models come with two floor brushes,
Of the many cool things, the one I like best about this vacuum is that all the tools are easily stowed on board "under the hood", that way they never get lost.

My kids track alot of sand and loose dirt into our home. Sand is so difficult to keep from getting everywhere, but the 514 has lots of power. It sounds crazy but with three boys, I use this vacuum almost everyday.

Cleaners
The S514 Direct Connect vacuum cleaner is part of Miele’s S500
series. This mango red vacuum from Miele is a sealed canister vacuum
with an electro-brush attachment. The dial power controls are easy
to use and located on the canister body. You can upgrade to an
Active HEPA filter, and you can upgrade to any air driven or power
driven floor tool.
What I like about the Solaris
This is a powerful vacuum for deep cleaning and restoring low to
medium pile carpeting. The SEB 217-2 Powerbrush is an electrically
driven carpet tool with a 10 inch wide brush. It has a swivel neck
for excellent maneuverability. The Powerbrush is connected to an
electric cord running through the telescopic wand.
The S514 also comes with a blower capacity. The blower helps clean
out awkward corners of dust and debris before vacuuming. All you
have to do is remove the filter and insert the hose into the blower
socket inside the canister.
In addition to these features, the S514 Direct Connect comes
standard with everything that makes Miele vacuums unique. A durable
ABS plastic shell, self-winding cord, self-sealing bags, a hygienic
dust cover to prevent dust from escaping the canister, a rubber
bumper to protect your furniture, three mini-attachments stored
on-board, ultra quiet operation, smooth movement, seven year motor
warranty, and long life span make Miele well worth every penny.
What I do not like about the Solaris
There are two minor drawbacks of the S514. The vacuum does not come
standard with an Active HEPA filter. The filter is optional.
Secondly, the S514 comes with an older version of the Miele
ergonomic handle. You cannot control power from the handle assembly.
In summary, the S514 Direct Connect vacuum cleaner is a very
powerful vacuum cleaner with a reasonable price. It is the least
expensive of Miele's premium vacuum cleaners. You are able to make
many upgrades and additions as you grow into the vacuum and discover
what the specific vacuuming needs are in your home.
